I have used it to report potholes, and they have done repairs within two days. You can see on the website if someone has already reported the same pothole.

They haven't fixed the street light yet. :(

There is a facebook group called something like "we pay our council tax why can't you fix the potholes".

    And I wasn't here.....honest!

But what are you doing flowering your Canary Bird abutilon at this time of year, and why isn't it full of bugs? confused-smiley-013.gif

Two of my abutilons are in the conservatory, having it tough. I have forced them to have a rest by pulling their leaves off. The other one is still outside being lashed by wind & rain, but I might bring it in if it's going below zero.nature-smiley-014.gifaction-smiley-039.gif

Just finished replacing all my dahlias......Well over £100 :(, but not in the same league as replacing a LR. Would you consider another marque as a stop-gap? As you know, I drive a Merc van, which seems to have more kudos than a Tranny, but having had experience of both, I wish we'd bought another Ford. ;)

Well I've been quite hyper because so excited about buying my house at last. Must channel that energy into the dreaded decluttering...:o

Sorry to hear that LJ. Hope they don't materialise into anything as bad as you fear. Tell us if there's anything we can do for you.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

would consider buying a non LR with the view of later buying a lorry. That way, if big enough to carry the dogs, and probably, judging by the ice round here, 4 wheel drive. After all, I was thinking about a runaraound, so maybe the thing is that we become a two vehicle family again.

My abutalon tips. Lack of knowledge and neglect.

It was a gift when we moved in from my mother who thought she had killed it. But there was a second stem, and so I thought''Must get round to taking of the main stem at some point. Put it on west facing windowsill. It flowered. In winter put the geraniums next to it. I water it sometimes. And say hello. And think ''I must get rid of that stem'' That's it. Its not something I chose or know about, so I just let it sit there and do want it wants. If it looks thirsty (rare) I water it.

I'm not great with house plants. My forced narcissi are just sitting there, been in bud weeks before christmas but still not opened. I want to be better. I loved having orchids when I was a student but found my sucess with them hit and miss. I don't much go for foliage stuff (though keep meaning to try an avocado pip). I love citruses but had a really bad year last year. (and those I really DID follow all advice on) :( I wouldn't mind trying a budda's fingers though...they are meant to smell great...and I have buckets of citrus food!

lir, do you know any mechanics personally who can advise you? Not necessarily someone where you are now, but perhaps someone who you've known in the past and trusted.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

No. :( My last mechanic who was ok if a bit...expensive and slow, rcently got cancer. I called the people we bought it from who referred to the car by name and pointed out it is on their website as a superb example...but they no longer do rebuilds/repairs, They said that its harder and harder to find ''chaps like ours'' worthy of it and that they now mainly do sales.

They did say to argue the valuation seriously (in fact said we'd have probably got MORE selling now...unlikely with the cost of fuel ;)) and to call tomorrow and they'll see if they can find any comparables at all to support the low valuation.

I think I just got pressured because hey were really pushing for me to say yes today and trying to take it without giving me any grace of time. I'm quite horrified at the pushyness of it all actually.

It used to be standard practice not to accept the first valuation given by a motor insurer, and I dare say it still is.:)

As regards pushiness, the replacement car hire companies are a nightmare too. I have extra cover for recovering money from uninsured drivers etc etc, so when we were written off, I had their appointed car replacement people, plus the insurer's people, both vying to loan me a brand new car! It got quite nasty. :(
