We used to know several, including a Volvo specialist. Here, it's harder, but our local garage is very reasonable, and they pointed me to a panel beater and general fixer-upper who works out of a barn at home.
For LR we have these guys:

Not much 'under the railway arches' style in that one! :rotfl:0 -
I just need to figure out if I will actually care enough to do the full 10 weeks of classes, I'm always rubbish with long term commitment.
Can you be flexible with some of your plans? Or get a few opinions of them?
Most women complain about men having issues with long term commitment, & then I read this!
10 weeks is long term commitment?
Run for the hills!:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Oho! So your team used to say "he's here, I'm sure I've seen him" did they? I can't believe nobody else noticed that - unless lj came out as male a while ago and I missed it.
Er.....:o
Git!:p
(Well done for spotting that one....dang!)LJ outed himself a while ago IIRC, but well done for spotting that. I can't say why, but I always had LJ down as a bloke.
Did I? Can't remember that...
Thing is, it never started as an intention, I just challenged a few posters when they made assumptions about me, & that opened debates about whether I was male or female.
Anyway, it is there now.

I think I might go to a car auction. This is terrifying. I'll need to take a mechanic....how much do you think this would cost...the mechanic?0

LJ...I always knew, even before I knew-knew. You have a very positive male identity...not unlike Davesnave in many waysPositive, proactive, compassionate but male.
Which makes it as if I'm saying male is not a good thing. which I'm not.0 -

I've had to read your post a few times Viva, as initially I wanted to write an "I AM NOT A NORTHNER BUT A PROUD MIDLANDER" style post, but that would've been completely wrong...:o
Ar spayk propa black countray loike!:)
Actually I don't, there are regional differences within fairly small areas. When I meet certain groups of friends from say, willenhall, thay all say "dow yow talk posh!" Whereas others 20 miles in another direction will point out how common I am.:oI lived up north for a while, they do speak funny, and they eat some weird things, but apart from that as long as you avoid living in blackburn you should be fine.
Pfft! The south have jellied eels for christs sake! & have never heard of a pint of mild!
Actually, when I went on my lemonjelly uk tour last summer, it was interesting looking at (small) variances in local favourites, or delicacies (using those words very loosely, & quite wrongly). For example, a fair few people dahn sarf look at you wierd when you request gravy. & in Hastings, the chip shop was selling a tray of chips coated in grated cheese. Exactly how much cholesterol do you want at any one time?;)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Is that chips and gravy? Yum yum...has been a favourite of mine since I was 16 ish.
I must admit to liking cheesy chips.....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Depends on the mechanic, as essentially you'd be paying for their time.
People I know have gone to auctions have usually taken long time friends or family members who are mechanics with them.
Dunno why (possibly because I know nothing about cars) but the idea of buying a car via auction feels (for want of a better word) unreliable to me.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

What were you asking for gravy with?
I love these little differences i regional things. Speaking of chips and of gravy: I've never had chips with gravy...but have hear of it a lot and think, tbh, it sounds quite pleasant. Still not sure I'll ever try it though. No have I ever had curry sauce on chips...which I do not think sounds nice.
I like chips with vinegar and mayonnaise. As much as I like chips. I can take or leave them.
