I scribbled something yesterday about a book .... and voila, 10 minutes later I was number one in Google using the book's title + one other word. Above Amazon. It's still there today
Already getting Google traffic from it too, but only 6 visitors today, so I won't retire.
The 'trouble' in this instance is that it was a US site, linking to US Amazon - yet the book is UK-written, UK-based.... and the affiliate programs are separate for UK/US Amazon. So, if you read it, want to buy it, click on the link you get taken to US Amazon. If you then find the book on UK Amazon I don't get a penny. But I wrote it just because I was in the mood for it.0 -
Had a little income rush now. Takings are up to £13 from £2 .... missed the best part of the day with my site being down. But I did get a nice commission for some French stuff somebody wrote, handy $40 in the pot there
So .... I don't make a fortune, but, to be honest, I don't do a lot. And I've pretty much had December off - and I never promote my stuff. I just "write and run" mostly. Money trickles in, I can buy sweeties, life's great.0 -

What a shame you haven't liked it lj. I've just dug my copy out, flicked through and got all excited again.0 -

You and DH would probably be able to discuss Jack, his antics and his possible identity all night then.
He's read so many of 'em that I sometimes wonder if I'm safe to go to sleep at night.
Edit: DH suggests you might like to look at the case of Robert Mann as described in 'Quest for a Killer'; M J Trow (Pen & Sword Books 2009). Another of DH's theories is that there may have been only one intended victim and that this was 'hidden' amongst all the other victims.... possibly linked to Mary Kelly's boyfriend? Yet again there was a sailor (Dutch, he thinks) - the murders happened when he was in port and there were other killings when he was in foreign ports. He was apparently eventually arrested abroad for some other murder.
Mmmm, have you come across these theories lj?

Heard today from my solicitor that everyone is now ready to exchange if we can just negotiate a completion date. :j:j:j
I'm now realising that getting my money out of the various accounts where it's currently stashed and into the right places to be CHAPSed to the solicitor is going to take a little longer than I thought, but what's another day or two?
The builder is going to phone me tomorrow to have a brief chat about timescales and prices, and fix a time for a longer conversation about details on Friday.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Really pleased for you.
I went through the hassle of supposedly instant access accounts actually taking up to a week to get funds free. Some have ridiculous policies like sending cheques within 3 working days, that means over a week is wasted.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. we got all money into one acct in time, having confirmed we would get free same working day transfer to the solicitor from that one acct in the same branch/same bank as the solicitor. Bank then started to grumble about transferring the amount on the day, saying they needed more time or a payment to do it.
I asked my dad to do the chickens, put decent clothes on and got in the car. I drove to London and went into the city to the relevant branch. They reiterated that they had got it wrong when they said they could do the same day transfer for free so I asked them how much it cost to withdraw
''Nothing at all Madam'' and how quickly does this show on my account''Instantly madam''
So I asked how much it cost to pay in...''Nothing madam, and it shows today on the account''
I smiled sweetly and said, I'd like to withdraw xxxxxxthousand please. Any notes are fine. And may I have a paying in slip?''
Suddenly they found it could all be transferred then and there on the screen for free.

I read this http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2010/jan/17/salati-case-tobias-jones the night before last. I met the author through an MSEer as it happens, and I knew the author's father. It was ok, but its not my sort of reading matter, so for those who is it might have been better than ok. To be honest I thought it was a bit cliched and ...no, I'll leave any review there I think. You never know who you'll run into again, or whether they care what you think... I got it for free the other day with an armful of other books...I got to the desk and instead of charging £1 each they said £3 for the lot,and take a piece of fiction if you want...this was on the top and the name leapt out so.....
And I picked this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Loves-Executioner-Psychotherapy-Penguin-Psychology/dp/0140128468 upt'other day for 99p. Its also not something I'd normally buy but what the dickens. I was going to read it in the bath today, but forgot to take it upstairs. I read an unwins seed catalogue instead. Thrice over.
LIR, we've discussed this...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
