Another library observation. Hardly anyone uses the advanced search feature or a bit of boolean logic. Even bright college things just use the basics. Why?Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Sooner or later content will probably be automatically generated by computers with little or no need for any original human input at all.
.
Have you ever read the product of such an algorithm? It is dire.
Actually, fully 90% of the content of the internet is fairly crap. This is one thing that really helps out the individual: there are actually very few people competing to produce good content.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

I don't have space. My dream is to have a proper PC (this one's cheap/5 years old, cost only £200 when it was new) - and a desk, with all my 'office' around me .... and voice recognition software.
Then I'd be in "work mode", as it is, right now, I'm huddled without heating under a sleeping bag with my keyboard on my knees. Hardly conducive to "working hard" at all. Which is why I crave "my space", even though it's going to be expensive.0 -

I sometimes find googling surprisingly hard.:o TBH, I find it quicker to ask a question on mse and get the smug ''google is your friend'' response..takes two minutes rather then 10 including reading links that it turns out have almost zero relevance and zero correct information.
I find the simpler the question I ask the better the response, but sometimes you want quite a specific question answered, so you have to think how you'd ask the question if you knew nothing rather than knowing a little. Phrase it too basically and you get too generic a response.
Often I find google image easier to use...with the words issue I sometimes have....I can find something with an image that looks right then click to the web page and that's quicker.

That's a brilliant adaptation to your circumstances lir. I may just have to steal that idea;) to discuss with a colleague of mine who works with people with poor literacy. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Oooh, I hope it can help someone!
It means you only have to really get one ''crucial'' right word.
infact, that sentence is a good example, I had to pause for ''crucial'' it took a couple of attempts, and typing ''crux'' got me to remember the word ''crucial''.
Its thinking about it makes me realise how far I have improved though!0 -
I use google images for recipes and products.
If I want a chest of 3 drawers, I'd use google images to look through at the sorts that are available, to see the 'whole of market' images, and if I spot one I like I can go to a website that's selling it to find out more, then I can refine my google search for specific features.
For food, I google with 1-2 ingredients, then hit images until I see something that looks nice, then I read the recipe and see if I have the ingredients... if there's something I don't have/want, then I'm back to Google and using that phrase as a negative.0 -

Do you think in pictures Pastures? I have a real problem visualising things, which is why I prefer films to fiction:o.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? So not really sure how to answer.
If I look at a coat and want to think how I'd look in it I'd try to "look" in my head at me wearing it, but I'd be devoid of detail. The main item would have the focus, everything else would be blurry. My mental picture would also be mostly black/white and small, more like looking at a photo held at arm's length with your eyes squinting.
I get lost in films. And if two characters are similar (two tall blokes with dark hair) I can't tell which is which. I now know these are aspie traits. I can't pick up the clues/body language and nuances; I can't tie together the fragments of information .... and I can't "recognise" people unless they don't change at all, so in a film there'd have to be something exceedingly distinctive about everybody. For films, I often have to watch them 3x to "get it all", which is why I don't bother, except for dumbed down films, which I can mostly follow.0 -

I can do the films thing, but can't imagine myself in an outfit at all. Have to use a mirror or I'm hopeless. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
