Every situation has a worse possibility eh?
Our fat cat generally sleeps onthe bed. She suddenly has these moments of huge pleasure when she starts purring and washing herself at the same time, which always ends in retching if allowed to go full time. One of us usually wakes up in time and pushes her off, so at least the purring stops!0 -
Just heard a lot of faffing about and raised voices, so had to go sort that out. Whole of the kitchen was being up-ended, looking for some scissors .... one was looking, other one was saying "they're not here, you had them, you lost them..."
Anyway, it deteriorated into them not speaking, so there I was .... sitting in silence trying to solve the problem of the missing scissors, which I was assured were brought down by one, used by the other .... and now lost. In the end I snapped and left them to it, but had a quick look in the bathroom - there they were.
Parents ... who'd have them???0 -
Oh dear, you poor love and poor old mum and dad. Your patience and love are being tried beyond endurance. But hang on in there, do the best you can, as you are, well done. You can only do the best you can. And are there perhaps any solutions? I dunno, but, er, what about a bit of walking round the local area once a day, the three of you together, you know, a bit of exercise, a bit of fresh air, a change getting out of the house for ten minutes, just a short slow stroll, not long and not far, just out of the house for a bit and then back again, maybe just sit in the back garden together, assuming you've got a back garden, and then maybe a cup of tea and a sit down, just anything simple to break the spell...love, woof woof0

PN, can't you tell them that you have a new years resolution to have some "me time", an undisturbed hour each day where you will do as you please, in or out and won't answer to anyone for it. Phrase it like you need to get your independence and not rely on their opinions on what you do?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Oh dear! You have just passed question 1 in the 'Am I Really Welsh?' Quiz:eek:
Question Two: Do you like UPVC windows with crissy-crossy leaded lights?
I don't like UPVC windows at all.
On Artex, I don't have any in my home, but when I've stayed in houses with it, I always stare at the Artex and wonder how the plasterers managed to get it so even.
I've obviously got (draw myself up straight here) non-mainstream taste.
And what do you have against the Welsh? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
And what do you have against the Welsh?
Nothing. Some of my friends are Welsh and my own family tree ends with the word 'Wales,' with an arrow pointing vaguely into a blank area of the page, so I must have some Welsh blood in me too.
Modern Welsh tastes in architecture & interior design are frequently dire, however, and the older ones aren't much better. Their planning of settlements also leaves a lot to be desired. It is a lovely country, as beautiful as anything England has to offer, but severely compromised in parts by what its inhabitants have done to it.
Just my opinion, of course.0 -
Pastures, what's wrong with Ilfracombe? Various one-bed flats to rent for £350 pcm (can probably bargain them down a bit).
I'm looking for somewhere that's got: access potential to the sort of jobs I could do, access to good transport, access to shops that sell things that are everyday useful. I could find plenty of cheap boltholes, but they don't have work potential.0 -
I am another who could never be front of house, I am poop at sales and although I am the face of my own website service, it is an anonymous face because it is all virtual rather than face to face.....I could never go out there and sell myself or any product of mine, I point out faults far too easily.
Something I read on the net and put in my Wisdom folder (on my pc) a while back.
A good salesperson always sells the benefit, not the function.0 -
add to above...I already know he is and by coincidence, Son quoted him the other day too over something he told him that time.......and he's really working hard at the course as he now has that focus that wasn't there a year ago. Your DH had a part in him making that decision....so big thanks from me.
We were wondering how he was getting on. I'm so pleased to read this.
No, can't ride ATM...only tried twice since moving, would be alright if I could get up there, but need left leg to do that:o Its a terrible thing, mounting a horse, you are taught to do it always from the left...whch is bad for the horses back and for the rider. I make sure DH mounts from alternate sides, and anyone else I taught. When I used to have young horses I was training I mounted from both sides too, but now the only muscle memory I have is to mount from the left....
When building works start were going to build me a disabled style mounting bay...where instead of just having a little block I can walk a horse in and instead of trying to get up as well as over, I just have to get over from the right level. The twice I did that from the Landrover bonnet, but felt very wobbly and insecure and that was unsettling.0 -

Spot on.
A simplistic and easy way to help people remember is to tell them to use "which means that...".
Plenty of salespeople reel off the stats and forget the "which means that....". If your customer doesn't see what's in it for them, they ain't going to be buying.0
