I think your writing is fine and I read lots of stuff by lay people like myself, and in this context, also like yourself, who are looking at the product or subject from the outside and just making general comments so I think you could do well just saying whatever you want, seeing as you’re articulate, intelligent and fluent and with a wide frame of reference and lots of understanding and experience. I wouldn’t say that if you were inarticulate but you have good powers of expression, for sure. And a wide frame of reference.
Yes, I don’t particularly want to read experts’ stuff and generally I don’t want to read much techy stuff. I’m fairly techy myself, as I mentioned to you before, I previously learnt Basic, Cobol, Unix and C programming and I’m a music video producer director editor cameraman and I ran a record label and I’m also an artist so I’ve got a fairly good grasp of a lot of technical stuff. But when I’m reading about stuff I don’t want lots of detailed cleverness, mostly I want general fairly low level fools’ guide stuff written in plain English that I can easily understand without having to reach for the dictionary and google lots of obscure stuff that I don’t know about.
As a lot of us do these days, I do lots of research for all sorts of things, but when, for instance, I’m buying a new video vision mixer or a new computer or a scanner etc I want a potted one or two page guide to it written in normal language that I can easily understand. Once I’ve read that, and three or four more ones like that, written by users and not experts, then, if I’m interested in researching it further then I may tackle some 10 and 20 page technical briefs but I tend to give up on them half way through when I come up against too much technical jargon and concepts that I’m not already familiar with.
So I think you should just press on and do what you like and I think there’s a market for anything and probably nearly everything that you would write. You’ve got a good and profound understanding of the universe and in particular net stuff and I think you’ve already got quite a following and a series of one and two page descriptions by you about pretty much any subject or product would be great, however much or little techy insight you might want to include. And, and this is also powerful, like any good reviewer, you’re aware of your limitations.
Yeah, Pastures, believe me, you’ve got it and you’ve got it good. Just bang it out and do what you want and go for it. I think you’ll get on fine. If you use the scatter gun approach and press forward on 5 or 10 fronts I reckon you’ll be very successful in at least two or three of them and possibly the whole lot. I generally try five or ten things at once in the hope and expectation that one or two or three of them will come good and I’ve been proved right on more occasions than I’ve just wasted my efforts.
Seconded...we have been telling her promise
Self employed, a bit of confidence, ignore what the rest of the world are doing/claiming/ talking about and just focus on your core skills.....try new things (not all will work ) and recognise which ones to pursue or cull.
And offset every little thing on your accounts to minimise your tax bill...all legit of course.

Poor you!
You clean a field in much the same way as you clean a litter tray. But it takes longer and is heavier.:o
Doh(!) I forgot about the horses...I had the sweep and grit concrete thing in my head and got mixed up.0 -

Are you well on the whole?
Must be hard with the new place when you have a bad day...have you got any help that come in when you need it?0 -
Any chip shops nearby?
Anyway, I can't answer all the questions about where I'm going "this time of night"0 -
I don't think I'd ever recover from a cat puking up in my mouth
Ever.
... thought about it ... no, not ever. Never.

Doing ok thanks.
Had a few bad days, but you know...you cope.I try and time bad days for when DH is home, but otherwise just ...get on with it, slowly, my left leg is definitley ''going'' on the way out now, but it holds me up, so not so bad really, its only sore when it goes from bent to straight, so not too much of a problem
. My head has had some weird nerve tweaks over this last week, which is stupid;y, more of an issue. I had a nerve screaming in shoulder but my superb DH has learned so much about massaging me from coming to all the appointments he pretty much eased it last night. we have coping mechanisms to get round heavy stuff and I have a couple of friends near by who if I really needed to I could call on...but a bit too proud,:o you know. Plus, I have to make it work myself- or wth DH.... For my self.

I always have to go when FC is on...and I want all her gossip so much!
But I'm off for my candlelit massage now...he must have felt me start to grumble on the keyboard...:)
Hope everyone had a lovely NY day.0 -
Anyways...my only news is the cat threw up all over my face in the early hours and it has gone down as one of 'The Most Hideous Moments' ever. OH heard him retch and then I woke up and it was in my mouth, my hair, my eyes and all over the bed as he ran away, still retching.
I couldn't even scream or speak as it I had to keep mouth shut as OH mopped me with tissues....then I had to wash....then we had to strip the bed.
ewwww...I'm shuddering at that. Poor you, hope you're recovered from that0 -

People struggle to be honest by phone but I ALWAYS ask why. I'm quite good at interviews TBH, but had a fair share of rejections, and I think its good to chase why. If you get an evasive or dishonest answer you know, and there is no loss to you in that. But finding why can be an answer...even if just to know not to bother applying to that employer again.
The feedback I generally get now is the boys.....employers are scared of taking me on because of my responsibilities and the very great possibility of my having to take a lot of time off at very short notice.
They like my skills, they think my personality is ok, I'm just about the right side of age, my leadership is good but my family life makes it awkward for them.
Unfortunately, my boys are well known in the education sector, so no getting away from it...and as I am forced to find something to fit into term time employment, the education sector is all there is.
I am another who could never be front of house, I am poop at sales and although I am the face of my own website service, it is an anonymous face because it is all virtual rather than face to face.....I could never go out there and sell myself or any product of mine, I point out faults far too easily. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
