no we dontDon't be so dramatic, you knew the cold weather was coming so you should have budgeted accordingly. If they have confirmed that you are eligible you will receive it in the near future.
I doubt very much that you will get any sympathy from the papers - all of the journalists have to pay for their own heating.
Do you receive income support?0 -

Just a reminder who qualify but haven't received a payment yet - the office you deal with may not have your full circumstances. We are on income-based JSA with a 3 year old, but although he was born BEFORE our claim started, they had no record of him. We had to update our claim, then wait for the numbers to be crunched again. The whole thing took about 3 months, but we did finally get our payments.
This year, because they have the correct details, the payments are coming through as they should - in fact I've had today the payment for the period to 17 December!
If you haven't been paid, phone them and politely ask for you details to be checked. Ask for supervisers/managers if necessary. But above all, BE POLITE.
Good luck, and Happy Christmas everyone!0 -
So far my area has had 3 cwp triggered. I've received two, and are very very grateful for them. But I don't understand why a 5 year old child is different to a 6 year old child. Why should it be that you have to have a child under 5?? My son is almost two, but normally he is warmer than my two older children. And I don't agree that the payment is sent to the bank. I think it should put straight onto the individuals gas / electric account.
One last thing, why so long in the payment arriving? Last year we had a trigger and after 6 weeks I rang them, and like someone else on here, they had no record of my son. A week after the phone call, we had another trigger. Ten days it took for that payment to go in, and by then it was warm again! I'm on a pre-payment meter for both gas and elec, so I had to pay upfront for the extra we used for heat. If the money was to go straight onto the account, or if in some magical way they could put it on the cards / keys for the meters, it would be so much easier and would actually be used for what it is supposed to be.
Anyway, rant over!
Merry Christmas everyone!!!Thanks to all posters :A0 -
You've got to have the cut-off somewhere, jaibaby. A 6 year old child is no different to a 7 year old child, who in turn is no different to an 8 year old child. Without a cut-off everyone would be getting a payment. Sounds good to me, but that's not the way these things work.
As to where the money goes, as you've said yourself they would need some sort of magic to put the money on cards / keys for the meters. So I guess paying the money into the bank is the easiest, sensiblist and most efficient method.0 -
