"Sealed Pot Challenge 4"

  • I too am in a very wet and windy Wales - I have started a 50p jar - its not unopeneable though it does have a little lock on it (unashamedly 'stole' it off my little one as he has several money boxes) but I know I have a terramundi pig somewhere that seems to have gone walkies - that is probably a better bet though I have been known to shake it til the money comes back out....figure if I put in 50ps instead of £1's I may be less likely to do that though. To date I have a tin with some loose change floating about in it (OH tends to empty it for milk and bread regularly) and an ice cream tub with loose change that is my bootsale float - will count both up and update signature and start this challenge seriously!

    Hi all,

I am not doing a sealed pot - but I do have a 4 litre whiskey bottle which I am plugging away with.

What I was wondering was if anyone knows of any website where I can estimate what is in there?

I can only see one that is set up with american coins.

    Thanks!

Hi all - Anyone with any links to a website for estimating how much is in my whiskey bottle? :D
  • Hi all,
My sealed pot is is being 'fed' every day with £2....and now has a satisfying 'thunk' instead of a 'clink' Great isn't it ?!!

Well, £45 may have come out today, but 65p went back in :rotfl::rotfl:

I only "withdrew" the small amount of notes, 50ps and a bag of £1 coins, so the smaller change is untouched and I think I have about £20 in £2 coins in the terramundi too.

I am getting overtime this month and promise to put some paper money back in to cover it. Honest :D

Found a £10 note in Asda today..........

but i was good and handed it in! :p

would hate to have dropped it myself and someone to have nicked it

also found 2p in my car, so thats been added to the tin

Ahhh! So honest :A Someone will do you a good turn for that.;)

Put £6.83ppppp in Rosie for me today... 6 £ coins from fat club and some loose change from helping out. At least I know that every Monday I will have something to pot. Losing the pounds to Rosie but losing lbs off the hips too ...another 2lb..thats 6lbs since 30th Dec so nice to put 6 in the pot. ;)

Three more sleeps to paid day whoop, whoop, then there will be potting in earnest but hopefully not too much shopping with earnest.!!!:D

    Happy potting folks x

Sue-UU - "Terrimundi pots" widely available in shops and on-line, are another ready sealed way to save, and though they'd have you believe you need to smash it come the end of the year - you DO NOT!!! I've used mine for 2 years...and yesterday at the end of last year's challenge hubby and I had a whale of a time, doing things the 'old' way! So be assured that, so long as you go carefully, you CAN use them again and again....unless you drop the darned things!

I have had a terramundi pot for about 3 months now, it's soo heavy, I'm proud of myself! It's for when I go on holiday to NYC in April. How on earth do you get the money out without smashing it? I love the design on the pot and was dreading smashing it!
Sealed Pot Challenge Member Number 1265 - No idea how much is in my terramundi pot so far from October 2010 but it's heavy!

Hi cubelips, to answer your question; sit at a table, or on the floor and tilt the Terramindi up and on it's side and gently let the money move to the slit and, using a knife, jiggle it out the the knife end. Believe me, you'll so very quickly get a knack for it to gently fall out (sometimes gushing). From then on and by gently tipping the pot a little more you'll be having a ball and the excitement builds up s much that you won't want it to stop!

Why ruin your beautiful pot when with a little patience you can use it again and again! did you wish to join us?

For any new members waiting for their numbers, I'll just sort them and you out on the list and be back again.

I'll just pop your name on the list and you'll see a welcome below here in just a minute. By the way, you're welcome to include the savings you have already in with your Total when you count it all.

PPink, a warm welcome to MSE as well as here on SPC 4. You'll soon be picking up valuable hints about where savings can be made - how to be thrifty with your weekly cash too, for now, keep saving every penny you can in our challenge. Enjoy doing so and looking ahead to December 1st when we open our pots!!! I hope that helps you a bit. :)

victoriaplum1 - did you wish to become a member?? I thought I recognised the name but couldn't see you when scanning through a minute ago. Just let me know please.

Good Morning sparky and thank you so much indeed for manning the fort so beautifully whilst I wasn't so well. A rotten weekend so I did as you suggested. You're a gem, sparky and thanks for the note :kisses3:, they're all on now. Be in touch soon.

Hi Aesop! I'm so glad you were able to change your username to one you preferred. I've sorted it out on the list so you're a fully-fledged Aesop now. ;)

Thank you so very much for your lovely wishes, blue_eyed_girl, that was so sweet. I'm feeling quite a bit better now thanks. I hope you're soon very much better too, jakes-mum.

Oh Dreamer, so sorry to hear about your OH, but as it's a short stay, start chalking up the days!

Well done to you and you Wife on her £10er, Andy! :T

y-m-Amy, what's the betting that in future you've always got nail varnish remover with you! :D

sweetpeas, try not to worry yourself too much when you're unable to put cash away, you're not alone, I promise you! If I'm lucky I'm able to save twice a week, but more often than not it's only the once.

Hiya Paul! Good to see you again and hear from Merthyr. You'd best hide that pot as well as seal it if it's to be kept out of Sarah's grasp! ....and I thought kids were a problem. ;)

ecdub, you would have to be extremely lucky to be able to guess the weight og your whiskey bottle's contents over the Internet! Why ever don't you count it up???!

Hi Caz, I'm pleased to see you earnestly thunking away each day - keep it up! BTW, excellent over the way!!! ;)

Very many thanks for the kind wishes everyone, you're a wonderful lot! :D Have a great day all and keep up the savings!
