This is the first time I've done a true sealed pot challenge - usually DH and I save all our coppers and silver 50p and under but dip into it for bits and bobs (usually chocolate from the shop lol whoops!) during the year so am going to try and make sure we don't dip into it this year. We have a relatively good amount of income left to buy bits and bobs so shouldn't need to dip in really!

Technically my pot isn't actually sealed though (whoops!) instead I use my Tigger moneybox and then change up some of the coins into notes when he is full so as to make more space :)

I think I started the challenge with about £100 from what DH and I have saved since we came back off our honeymoon in september so will be adding to that? Think I'm going to give myself a target of £300 to start with although I'd love to beat it :D

To the poster who asked about tallying it up or counting at the end - I'm tempted to tally as I go purely just because if I know how much is in there I'll feel guilty about dropping the amount by removing money from it lol!

Put in 88p in change from my lunch at work today - 2p of it was money I found on the floor at work - so corridorkill instead of roadkill lol!

What does everyone to plan to say for? DH and I haven't decided yet!

I'm aiming for £100 this time around. I'm only collecting 5p and below as I need the rest for bus fares so I'm not going for anything too ambitious!
ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)
  • Hi. Can you add me please. Have just made my sealed pot from a washed out sauce jar, masking tape and an envelope - very mse

    Woohoo! :j

    Target is £150 this year.

    I've added 97p from this year's oddments (22p in 2p, 35p in 5p, 40p in 20p) and my pot feels empty and rattley :(

    Hi Everyone.

This thread is flying along already!

Congratulations on some great totals so far!

Can I please set my target at £365 for 2011?

I am making a start with £5.70 worth of assorted coinage left after I bagged up this years savings. Am I allowed to save it twice?

No sealed pot yet as have not been out because of the snow! I will be hitting the £1 shops this weekend - weather permitting! Got to go out and do some Xmas shopping - or every one will be getting bags of coinage for pressies!!!!

Keep warm everyone and good luck with the saving!!!!
