Hi, I can give you some feedback on my experience. I too got a letter before Xmas and on the second page in small print it told me my package was going up from 12.99 to well over 20 quid. I have a second line which I use for broadband so I switched back to BT line rental only. I would have had to pay a connection charge for anyone else but BT was free. I informed talk talk on the cancellation line and they told me it would cancel down automatically.
A few days after the switchover date, I got billed from Talk Talk as usual. My account was still live. Called cancellations and they said it would definitely be cancelled in a few working days. Called back after this date and the account was still open. They told me that "Tiscali had rejected the cancellation!" After going from billing to cancellations back and forth they have now said it will be cancelled on Feb 9th. However despite getting a promise from Customer care yesterday to send me an email confirming this nothing arrived! Cancellations won't send you anything.
So it is not so easy to leave in my opinion. I am thinking of cancelling the direct debit but then read horror stories of claims companies coming after you! They are a shambles.0 -

I have had similar experience with several different companies. The UK's problem is everything is "virtual" - you've got only a number to call, a remote address to send a letter. Regardless how angry you are, you simply can't make it done with those remote contacts. In the country on the other end of the continent, customers can simply go to their local office and grab a real person to resolve the problem (although it never needs to happen in my experience). That county is named C****(not Crap as you guys always think :j ), where the customer is the real God.0 -

I thought it was worth updating my experience. My line did finally cancel down on 9th February. Received letter from Talk Talk this morning and expected a final bill. NO, it is a demand for February full payment of £23 plus. Call Talk Talk who's systems were down. Then called later and got through. Apparantely they couldn't bill me by direct debit AS THE ACCOUNT WAS CLOSED so they generated this fradulent letter instead.
They transferred me to Tiscali billing (REMEMBER SAME COMPANY) who say the final bill will only be generated this week and it will be payment up to 9th Feb. Since my account transferred on 18th Jan. I will be roughly £12-13 out of pocket. However if this bill does arrive I will pay it just to get shot of them. Not even worth going through torture to try and get the rest of it back.
Since my account is now closed I also can't check any bills online or even register for the online TalkTalk forum to complain.
Really scary experience which hasn't ended yet...Would never use this company again on principle however cheap they may be in the future. Hopefully this will be my last post....0
