Popped in yesterday at opening time, there was a promotional SEL but no chickens - !!!!!!!!! But they did have the Finest free range chickens for £1.99 a kilo, so bought two of those for £2.20 each. Bargain! Also got my Surf B1G2F, hurrah. :)

    Thanks again OP.

  • Are the Sainsbury's ones free range? I hate any sort of animal cruelty.

No idea. I guess killing them isn't cruel though ...

Does anyone know if tesco will do raincheck vouchers on these? My local Tesco rarely had FR chickens in stock anyway so I am seriously doubting whether today they'll have any.

Also, I checked online, prices are right but there's no mention of the offer so no mention when it ends... does that mean if I order it and they overcharge me I can claim it back?

They're killed humanely - it's about the quality of their life. Which is why I don't understand why everyone doesn't buy free-range eggs. Makes such a difference to the hens, and the eggs are tastier too.

As much as I agree with you, this is the grabbit board, not really the place for ethical poultry discussions! :)

The original deal ends 6/12/10 and offer was shown on the links I posted. The links have now been changed on T.com although they are still half price. I always call my local Tesco/sains to see if they have something in that I want - it often saves me a trip and you can ask about the raincheck vouchers too.

If its not showing a half price offer or date of offer ending, then I would order and take a copy of the price page. I don't see how they can end the offer on your purchase if offer is not shown, and charge you a higher price. To all intents and purposes, it looks just like a standard no offer item. In my experience they are good at honouring the price shown on the day you order unless there's a specific date that the offer ends in which case your 'basket' normally tells you if you've selected a delivery date after the promo ends. Hope this makes sense. :xmassmile

  • My shopping has just arrived and have been charged full price for the chicken so am going to give them a ring when my cordless phone charges up and should get a refund of 2 quid if it is still showing on the website?

Pity they didn't do DTD on home delivery shopping...

Anyway - Managed to get my surf small and mighty on B1g2f so have a smile on my face ... Just running out of room in my kitchen now!

Thanks OP - I was worried the offer had ended but was sure it ended today - They actually sent a Tesco Finest free range chicken instead as had run out of the cornfed and the price match price on the chicken is £7.16 so happy am getting a £7.16 chicken for £2.04!!

does anyone know where you stand on internet orders? I ordered one last night for delivery today at £1.99kg but I don't think I've been charged right as on the print out it's charged me £7 for it. Trying to get through on the phone is nearly impossible aswell. Do they still do DTD online too or instore only?
  • I DUNNO ...I'm CONFUSED now - Was it a £4.08 chicken HALF PRICE @ £2.04 or was it £2.04 a kilo???

I thought it said half price so thought I would get a chicken for £2.04 but its £4.08

On the website now it says £2.04 a kilo but I would not have bought a chicken for £4 usually as am on a tight budget but guess I'm stuck with it now???

They've NEVER given me DTD for online orders and there's ALWAYS a price discrepancy every time I shop there online...

Do we have to ASK for it as they seem like they are being kind and doing me SUCH a big favour when they say ''don't worry we will refund your card'' when it was their mistake in the first place

One thing which puts me OFF home shopping is you always have to end up on the phone to customer services practically EVERY time...

But was it MY pricing error? As in it is actually £2.04 a KILO and I misunderstood thinking I was going to get a nice chicken for £2.04 itself! lol

It showed on my shopping order as £4.08 but with red tag in corner so I thought it would be price adjusted at the end as it USED to say HALF PRICE on the Tesco website :-(

Can't believe I'm gettin in a flap over a chicken!!
