First thing would be to ask your girlfriend to insure it in her name, with you as a named driver. This will necessitate tranferring your no claims bonus to her because you need NCB per car as opposed to per person. So she can't insure two vehicles in her name just using her no claims bonus alone. That should cut your insurance renewal quote by about a third. A bit insulting really, as I believe (no scientific, impartial evidence for this claim, just my opinion) that the main reason women drivers have fewer accidents than male drivers is simply because they don't drive very often.
This won't necessarily cut the costs by a significant amount.
Some insurers don't want women in certain occupations or in certain locations.
A radio show I listened to in September on insurance price increases, got people to put in the exact same info for quotes as the opposite gender and for most people the costs were within £20 of being the same. In other cases they were more than £50 higher for being female.
Plus older female drivers are actually getting higher insurance quotes then men the same age simply because they are a higher risk due to their inexperience.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Hi i am in the same situation, for the last three years my insurance has increased by atleast £120, i received my renewal this morning.. and they have quoted the same price at last year... but their is a higher excess and this is only for third party fire and theft..
Its safe to say... im not renewing with quoteline direct.. The quote is for a vauxhall corsa 1.2, ive got 4 years now claims.. and im 24.. very expensive if you ask me.
Are their ne providers you could recommend
Ive got nothing against quotelinedirect as a company.. very helpful.. and normally competitive but its very expensive this year0 -
You must be an awful policeman. It appears facts mean nothing to you.
Based on the mouthy attitude, lack of basic knowledge, dropping in some offences to the conversation and being 'an engineer and a police officer' my money's on him being a Special Constable with the usual delusions of grandeur.0
