Has anybody had any trouble with this company? My partner completed their forms back in August this year, with a few phone calls back and forth, they have now sent him a letter claiming he is due to receive his miss-sold PPI in his bank within the next few days, and he has to pay C.A.G the percentage requested. However, he has not received any monies off them yet. When he called C.A.G they told him he does not have to pay C.A.G until the miss-sold claim has hit his bank. Is this a scam? What is the norm procedure with these companies? He has not paid any money upfront thank goodness!! Any feedback would be great THANKS

Hi and welcome
So your partner used a claims company to make a reclaim then?
Unfortunately lots on here have had lots of hassle using them, where this could have been done free with help from this site.
By using a claims company they do tend to charge for the work they done to make the reclaim on the PPI.
Maybe someone will post up who have dealt with these, and of their own experience, but further on down the threads - there are quite a few of them about claims companies, think this one have been mentioned as well.
Good luck and also well done on your partners success anyway.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

We were aware of the charges at the time, so he isnt bothered about that. Because like somebody else stated in another thread, whatever he receives is more than what he started with so he wont be out of pocket. But with it coming up to Xmas it would be nice if he gets it ASAP. Just curious what other peoples stories are with this company. Thanks anyway0

You are out of pocket the money they take for the fee that is yours by right. Sorry i cant find any that will answer the question you posted. You will just have to run with this.

There is no mention on their website about when they get your fee. Most companies take it out of your win and send the remainder to you. Maybe someone who has won with this company will post to tell you what happens with the payout.0

from what i can tell from previous postings what will happen is:
the loan company/bank will pay you the redress into your bank account for a loan, or if there are arrears on the loan it will be put towards them.
if it is a credit card with an outstanding balance that you are claiming ppi against the bank will apply the refund to the outstanding balance and then refund you anything left over.
the monies come straight to you from the bank/lender,
once you have the money the reclaim company will then send you a bill for their percentage of the money reclaimed + Vat.
i hope this helps explain what will happen.I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free0 -
I’ve had dealings with them recently. I was hoping if someone can clear a few things up for me.
In short, I was successful in my claim for loan PPI and was sent a cheque for £800 with the remaining £2500 going towards the balance of the loan. I was told by CAG & Baines & Ernst that I can fight to get that £2500 sent to me instead.
Today I put the cheque in the bank (which will be ready Tuesday) and within hours I got a call from Baines & Ernst saying that I need to pay or start paying off the 39% fee. He asked me to use the entire £800 to clear off some of the CAG fee, to which I said no. Then he was hounding me for nothing less than £300. He asked for my card details, he was very insistent, when I pointed out I don’t have the money yet he said “we will keep your card details on file and take the £300 out on Tuesday”. I asked him to phone back Tuesday instead, “sorry, we are VERY busy at the moment, I’m fully booked”. But when I called his bluff by saying not today , he said “I will ring back Tuesday then”. All this STINKS. He kept barking on that CAG did a lot of hard work on my behalf. What, press print, send me a letter I have to fill in 4 times.
My gripe is why can’t they wait until I receive the full amount, they want to take every penny off me and the cheque hasn’t even cleared. Any advice?0 -
Stand your ground and dont pay them until you have the funds cleared in your bank, you have not given him permission to take funds from your bank, so tell him you will be contacting fos and the moj if you have to, if he takes any money before your cheque has cleared. Was the loan in arrears? as if it was not, then you should have had the refund back to you and you would not have to fight for it back. If the loan was in arrears then they can take your win off the claim, and if this was the case then there is sod all the company can do to get it back for you.(just another money earner for them, charging you for something they cannot do.) How much was your total win? if you dont mind me asking, and after the fee, what will you be better off by?.If you prefer not say thats ok x.Protocol45 wrote: »I’ve had dealings with them recently. Really appreciate the reply. Im worried sick about all this.
This is all from memory, but I think the total was about £3500. Minus the £800 cheque. Then minus the 39% fee which is about £1000. So I will get just over £1600 back.
I was in debt management for this loan for over 5 years until one day Baines and Ernst randomly called me asking if I would like to claim the money back.
And im sorry but what is fos and moj? Maybe Im getting too old, I feel I should know that.
I can't get over how insistant the guy was for me to pay up. I mean seriously, I have been waiting months for this money to come through then as soon as I get some, CAG swoop in and want the entire cheque. Not to mention on my debt management plan I have been paying CAG £20 month just in case I don't get the money. I was told that was enough, it would be like another debt of sorts. Then the guy said lowest amount is £50. I don't even have the money yet and they are around me like vultures.0 -
Give the ministry of justice a call as well, 02033344250 or 02033344282 and tell them the same as you tell the fos, please keep me updated with this and dont let them take any money until the cheque as cleared. Give the claims guy a ring and tell him you want to know how many £20 you have paid so you can deduct this off the bill. Please post on here what he says. And we will take it from there.Protocol45 wrote: »Really appreciate the reply. Im worried sick about all this.

This worries me, you have obviously been spun some yarn about what you will have to pay them, do you know how long you have been paying these £20 a month towards this fee for the mis sell claim? as this needs taking off their fee. Give the financial ombudsman a ring on 08000234567. Explain to them what you have put here, dont forget the £20 a month you have been paying and the guy that keeps pestering you for the money, dont forget the dmp you were on either. Then the guy said lowest amount is £50. Protocol45. when you ring the claims guy ask him to send you a bill.0
