Please may I join in too?

I have a joint account, so will have to do things slightly differently. May I transfer the money in my purse < £10 every Friday into savings? Otherwise I'm "pinching" DH's money...

I really want to have some money put by in 2011 as I think it may well be a tough year for us.

    Good luck everyone!

    Hi Clare
    Welcome aboard.
I have added you to our list on page 1.
Good luck and Happy saving :)

PS having reread your post a couple of things jumped out at me
Will you be putting your money into a savings account? If you are then that's no problem
If you are saving it in a jar or something similar in your house maybe the Sealed Pot Challenge 4 would be more suitable.

Thank you very much! And no, it'll be going in the savings account. Sealed pots don't stay sealed in my house - too much temptation just to "borrow" that tenner out of the TARDIS (my money box is a plastic TARDIS which once held marshmallows in case you have no idea what I'm talking about) :rotfl:

No problem I thought I would check!
A TARDIS is a cool money box :D I just use an old roses jar for mine.

An old Roses jar? Something you can SEE through???

Blimey, the money in it wouldn't last a day on my dressing table :D

I also have a Barbie money box which also originally held marshmallows, which I use for keeping DD's horse money in. Do you see a pattern emerging here where I quite obviously fish things out of the bin which my kids no longer want? And use them as money boxes? :rotfl:Also that Woolworths used to sell money boxes full of marshmallows as cheapo Christmas presents for kids?

I see a little pattern here - You like marshmallows!!:rotfl::rotfl:
My roses jar is see through BUT it is hidden in my wardrobe so I don't really see it all the time. I managed nearly £100 in it this year BUT I would love to leave it until it is totally full before emptying it this time, something I have never managed in the past.

    Hi Palema,

It was fantastic thanks and he was spoilt rotten! I know my parents loved it especially as my brother and his family as well as mine all spent the day at theirs so they got to have the kids and grandkids all together. I lost count the number of times I spotted my dad just gazing at everyone smiling!

    How was your Christmas?

I managed to save £206.74 in total in 2010 even after restarting half way through the year, so am going to give myself a target of £250 for 2011.
