I'm another one who loves the approach and staff at lush. I like the fact that I can go in and say that I need se.g. something for dry hands and 1 member of staff will show me suitable products while another member of staff lets my kids try out lots of samples.
I always leave with a bag full of goods!!

I used to love Lush and even worked there as a Christmas temp one year, but I agree about sometimes feeling like you are being ambushed.
I actually stopped shopping with them when they brought out the Cameleon ballistic. As the owner of a Crested Gecko, I couldn't support the charity they were raising money for. I know that I wasn't alone on being upset by it, Lush's facebook page was full of objections.
  • I can understand that some people may find the Lush staff a bit pushy (albeit very nice with it), but personally, I've always found them very helpful when I've been in. I'd also echo that thier customer service generally is excellent - I emailed thier website a while ago asking for suggestions for someone with sensitive skin caused by medication and got a lovely package of samples to try - all fabulous!!

(The only thing I'm not happy with is that they stopped making my favourite shower gel - boo! But then they brought it back under Lush Retro - hurray!)

    Love Elaine xx

Hmm, the one near me is ok - you get approached by 2 or 3 assistants in the first few minutes, but after that they will leave you alone to browse, which is just fine by me. I know they are there if I need to ask anything, but won't bother me if I just want to wander around smelling stuff and deciding if I can afford it!
    Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!

The one near me seemed really good, but then I've only been in a couple of times. It's all a bit too pricey for me and the smell gives me a bit of a headache. Anyway, there was one girl at the door welcoming, simply saying hi, several staff members on the tills and one other girl standing around. She was really good, she simply observed from a distance and after I'd been round the shop once (I was looking for something specific and failing) that was when she approached me and asked if she could help. She took me right to the product and got me a sample to try too.

I'm an odd person, I never like asking for help so I do like staff members who ask after a reasonable amount of browsing time.

I luv Lush but in these austerity times I've bought a £10 Bath Bomb set from Argos.

Will try n make my own, all down to imagination really.

Anybody made their own bath bombs?
  • I've made my first bath bombs this week! 300g Bicarbonate of soda, 100g citric acid, tbsp oil (olive, sunflower etc etc) couple of drops of food colouring, 10 drops of an essential oil and enough water to make it all the consistency of very slightly damp sand/enough to mould it into a ball that holds it shape. Mould them into small balls and leave to dry for a few hours :)

I don't think you need a kit. I recall finding a recipe for bath bombs somewhere - I think I just googled it. I saved it on another PC, unfortunately, but I should think the receipe is pretty easy to find.

    Good luck.

How beautiful are those soaps at the end of the thread? I wish I could make stuff like that.

Bicarbonate, Starch, Citric Acid, Glycerin, Fragrance, Colour the kit recipe.

It has a tip to dry on your radiator for an hour.

I bought the kit to kick start my own production!!

I have a couple of bottles of lavender essential oils I bought on offer from H&B.

    I'm a Lush junkie.

I usually find a polite "No, thanks!" suffices, although the shop assistants are all lovely!
