Watermarking a photo can help deter copying and also help to prove ownership. This can be easily done by using a free program called
Picture-Shark which can be downloaded from http://www.picture-shark.com
For information on how to use it try here http://www.erns-eporium.co.uk/watermark.htm
Here is an example of a watermarked picture done with picture-shark.

Or host your pictures in Photobucket, so that you can changed them to something nasty if someone pinches them.

Was just about to say watermark them with your user id/ shop name! If someone does 'borrow' it you're getting free advertising!

You are joking, get real.vandanfc wrote:I believe that photos are a unique part of the listing ! It shows some thought and care by the seller to best show off their product.
I would be mighty miffed if someone took one of my photos to use on their auction.
Just because they are on the web, does NOT mean that anyone can take and use them, the copyright rests with me and the photo is my property!
It's a normal part of using ebay/the internet
-borrowing/copying photos & information
Depends what the photo is meant to convey
-is it a general photo and/or does it show the condition of item
-is the photo misleading
-is the seller competing/hijacking your listings
If the photo is misleading, that's another thing.
Sellers that watermark or stop you saving copy of listing image are wasting their time.
I bet they will copy images themselves.
Chill out.

Ebay disagree, which is why they will remove auctions that have copied pictures on them.

Your safe anyway. I never bid on anything which has a picture of it being put on the floor and I never use pictures of stuff on the floor either. Yuk!!eporium wrote:

i think as long as the person is selling an item that is the same, then whats wrong with it. People when listing dvd's on ebay do not have the film producers on there back for using the info to describe the film.0

thing is how can ebay prove you took the photo first and have not copied it from somewhere else? unless you have some unique name or watermark on the photo.0

When you copy a listing, does it copy the pic? I know it isn't copy, but something like
