brown spots on my knives

anyone know why this is happening?

I'm using Finish 3 in 1 tablets plus there is salt in my dishwasher but I'm still getting brown spots on the knives. It's very frustrating.

I used to have this problem with my cutlery if I left it in the d/washer overnight. Now, I only put the cutlery in when I am about to put the d/washer on. Otherwise, I just wash it by hand. Or, I found that rinsing the cutlery before putting it in stops the problem.

well yesterday I started to take the cuttlery out as soon as it finished. I did a search and someone suggested rinse aid  Maybe I should try this. Bizarre thing is that it's only on the knives! Everything else is fine
  • Before you ask it is not the cutlery rusting, you probably have stainless steel, which will not rust.
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.

Might be the Finish - it wrecked my glasses and started my stainless steel (yes, it does rust, just not as easily as normal steel; the official term for it is corrosion-resistant steel) cutlery rusting. Switch to a different brand - I used to use Glist, but now find that Lidl Adritt is just as good and a lot cheaper.

I have the same prob though, the rinse aid is always topped up as silvercar suggested but it still happens! I find if I hand wash them after the dishwasher it washes it off but then that defeats the object of having a dish-washer !! xx

Happened to me, changed my dw powder & it stopped. Am using Tesco own brand without any probs at the mo. I checked rinse aid & salt, both were ok.

I'm getting exactly the same. Only on the knives. Rinse aid is fine and i've tried all different brands of dishwasher powder and tablets. What on earth is it ?

No it could be rusting, brown stains on metals could be its oxide (rust when metal is with oxygen and water), which is rusting!
