Has anyone else had bother getting parcels delivered?
There's been a few times where i'm waiting for a parcel and then find the 'we could not deliver' card pushed through the letterbox -i just assumed it was me being an idiot and not hearing the doorbell. It happened again this morning - this time i left the living room door open, and then i heard him pushing the card through the letterbox - he didn't even try to knock or ring the doorbell!
Its getting annoying because i'm paying for quick deliveries only to have to go and collect the parcel from the office 24 hours later!

I'm having a problem with Royal Mail. Two weeks ago I had a "Sorry you were out" card. None of the options on the back were ticked (about where it ended up). So I assumed it went back to the delivery office. I went online and requested a redelivery for that Saturday knowing I would be in. Nothing came.
So the following Saturday I went up to the delivery office with my "Sorry you were out" card to collect my package. They couldn't find the package there.
The neighbour assures me it wasn't left with them. So now I have no idea where my package is. Thanks Royal Mail, great work.0 -
I'm having the exact same issue - three times i've had it redelivered, each time resulting in the "Sorry, you were out card". I have been in all day on each of these occasions, and there was no knock or ring at all. I've given up and requested it be redelivered to the local post office, but I really resent having to pay the £1.50 to pick it up.2011 Wins : Models own makeup product, Photoplusx4 software:j Mens hair dye :rotfl:0

I have also had this issue before where I've been in all day and still recieved a "Sorry you were out card" and I can honestly say I never heard a knock at the door, I don't think they even did it.
I've also had a package delivered to a neighbour even though I was in (good thing they were honest and brought it to me!!!) and has post sent to another neighbour (important doctors letters) and then the neighhbour didn't give them me for months
I don't have the best of experiences with the Royal Mail.0 -
I used to live in a block of flats with a security door, and half the time just wouldn't get deliveries at all, not even a note through the door, since the postman appeared to lack the initiative to ring a doorbell if the door was locked (I'm disabled and at home all day, and would happily answer if I'm waiting for a delivery, although not the rest of the time, given the "interesting" characters who would hang around the area). Most things would turn up 2-3 days late, and magically got faster whenever the security door lock was broken (no longer secure, but hey, we get our post!)
Post was just terrible in general there though, the one that really took the biscuit was a small packet (quite small enough to go through the door) which took 37 days to reach me; I was just thinking of contacting the company I'd ordered it from to ask when they sent it, when it turned up! Ok, it was second class but still, that is ludicrous. Thankfully I moved to a different area a few months ago and seem to have no trouble now (aside from getting more post for the previous occupants than for me!)
so you had a serviced entrance with no service button i assume
did the buzzer system only allow one buzzer to be pushed at a time?0 -
It had a service button, not that we were ever told what it did, presumably the postmen knew. Seemed like it only let them in in the early morning though, if they arrived later than that, they didn't get in unless the lock was broken or they bothered ringing the doorbells, which they rarely did.
so you didnt see the connection that you got deliveries when the door was open but had problems when it wasnt?
the service button allows postal staff entry to a stair
thats when the residents bother to get it set up0 -
Eh, didn't I already say that I did see that? It was pretty damn obvious that they weren't getting in sometimes, but it wasn't so hard for them to ring the doorbell, was it? The service button was set up, by the way, since there were countless times when the post was delivered and the door was working correctly. Like I already said, it seemed to only work early in the mornings - we only got post up to about 11pm, if it was later, we got none UNLESS the lock was broken. Very obvious pattern over about 6 years living there.
Thanks for making me feel welcome as a new poster, nice to see people even read your posts before jumping on you about things they don't even understand the full situation of. You didn't live in my building, I did.
so why didnt you get the service button time changed?
it seems weird you are moaning about not getting post when it seems quite obvious where the issue was?
Ive fully read your posts and am at a loss why you couldnt see the correlation and obvious fix in 6 years0 -
If you read them you'd know that I DID see the correlation? It seems you didn't. As for getting it changed, how am I meant to magically know that's possible? Not being psychic, or fully understand the system, I didn't know that, strangely enough. You might be an expert on these things but average people aren't.
perhaps you should have come here years ago and got information then.
how do you magically think the mail stopped at 11?
who do you think it would be down to given you lived there?
plenty of average people sort out issues every day.
seem strange you wouldnt look for solutions in 6 years, since it was obviously an issue for you?0 -
My attitude to housing is: it's rented, so you have to contact landlords to do stuff for you. I'm autistic, contacting people to do stuff is HARD for me so I prefer not to unless it's essential. They also rarely get round to it without constant nagging and it's just not worth the hassle since they'll label you as a troublemaker if you bug them too often.
And it's still not my responsibility that postmen are too lazy to press a simple button to ring the doorbell, you're ignoring that point I see, take it you can't answer it so would rather just blame me. Not what I expected from a helpful forum like this, particularly in what's clearly a rant thread - pick on the newbie time I suppose.
I havent ignored anything
seems you were happy to have something to moan about for 6 years
so you cant be bothered doing anything about it?
i could go through delivery spec for delivering to flats etc but since you couldnt be bothered doing anything in 6 years, whts the point?0
