Bathroom refit-Is this ok?

Options
I have moved into my first house where the bathroom suite is advocado green!! It has to come out as it is doing my head in. A local company are offering to do the following.

Remove tiles and current suite.
Make good walls and floor.
Supply and install wall and floor tiles.
Supply and fit toilet, sink and pedestel and bath with panel.
Fit a new mixer shower which I have supplied.
Remove my radiator and replace with new towel rail.
Supply and fit sink and bath taps.
Skim ceiling, install 4 downlights and paint ceiling white.

Total price is £3400.00

I know I should get more than 1 quote but is this expensive?

  • It's cheaper than mine, where do you live? How big is yor bathroom? I am in North London, my bathroom is 6 sqm and I was quoted £4000 + VAT for labour only (no toilet, sink, bath or shower). I don't need anything done to ceiling other than a coat of paint.
I am getting more quotes this week.
  • Im in Luton so not far from you and my bathroom is 2mx2m. Are your tiles included in your quote?

My price is from a local showroom and they told me they are currently working in Borhamwood so they may go North London. Let me know if you want their details.

Any electrical work carried out in the bathroom is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regs, so make sure your fitter can do this for you and supply the correct electrical certificates

  • Thanks, I'll bear that in mind :)
Tiles were not included in the quote, no. I am in Barnet, so not far from you at all. I have another chap coming in 10mins, let's see how much he quotes me. Will let you know
  • Was meant to ask you, which shower mixer are you going for? I was told that Aqualisa or Mira are the best, but they cost quite a lot. Decisions, decisions...

Both are good but not the best

Hansgrohe will give a far better shower for around the same money

The quote, Needs more detail before i could say if its fair

We would generally charge £4500 upwards for a small bathroom, based on £1800 labour, £800 for basic materials(adhesives, plumbing fittings, tanking, timber ect) and £1900 for bathroom suite and tiles. Most bathrooms based on a 5sqm floor and 25 sqm wall tiling would take 8-9 days for 1 man and thats for a full rip out inc plaster off walls and floor back to joists

Suspect the cheapest possible suite and tiles in that. Its very thin tbh. Andy's all-up price including quality goods is far closer to the mark.

OH tends to fit Mira and Aqualisa. What are you considering?
