Jean-Patrique offers - I don't think so!

On 12 Oct. I ordered a set of £1.99 knives from Jean-Patrique Cookware - at that price, it didn't matter if they weren't much good. The payment page was iffy - you gave your card details THEN were confronted with several pages of special offers which you had actively to decline or they were added to your order, with no tool or opportunity to adjust your order before making the payment final. I ended up with a knife roll for another £4.99 but Xmas was coming up, doubtless it would do as a present.
No email appeared to confirm my order andgive me an order number as the website promised would happen. I wrote to complain to Jean-Patrique and, surprisingly, two days later a customer services rep. called back to apologise for any "misunderstanding", asked if I wanted to change my order, I should have cancelled it but stupidly did not, and did not know why no email to confirm my order had been sent. She promised my order would be sent "shortly".
On 14th Oct., Jean-Patrique took £6.98 + p&p out of my bank account. It is surely standard practice that companies only take payment from a customer's bank account when an order is dispatched? I received nothing. I wrote again, recorded delivery, the letter has arrived but I have heard nothing nor has any article from Jean-Patrique arrived at my home. This matter now goes further,
Has anyone else had problems with Jean-Patrique Cookware?:(

I've had very similar problems with this company. I placed an order for knives on 18th October, £26.97 was taken from my bank account the following day and, you've guessed it, no order received. I phoned the customer service number (0871 so I wonder how much that cost?) - it's obviously a call centre who asked "is this an order for Jean Patrique?". I left a message with them saying that I had not received any confirmation and could someone please confirm this order. I received an email about 3 weeks later saying that they could find no trace of my order and asking me for my confirmation number - OMG! I then advised them to find my order based on the only info I have been given, get it sent or refund my payment. I'm still waiting. I knew this was too good to be true.0

Can I have the knife roll? I'm looking for something to roll my knives in. Sounds ideal."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Ok - so what are we going to do about it? I think they deserve a pretty hard time for basically sharp practice. AND they're still posting "Special Offers" all over the internet!0

I wish that I had read some of the forum posts here regarding Jean Patrique before placing my order. I also have had a very similar experience to yourself. £1.99 knife set becoming a final bill of £28.62 including a £6.99 postage charge. I ordered on the 2nd November, never received a confirmation email, chased the company 3 weeks later after my credit card bill indicated that I had been charge full amount, but no order received. When I phoned, they advised it was because the item wasn't in stock. I stupidly should have cancelled then, but waited another few weeks. Still no items. Phoned to cancel order - this appeared to be fairly straightforward, however as yet have yet to be refunded my money.
Emails have gone unanswered, telephone messages also unanswered. This company is a nightmare. Would avoid at all costs!0 -
Hi
I ordered the knife set and some of the extras at the beginning of Oct, they took the money straight away I then contacted them a few times asking where the items were, they were 'out of stock' by the beginning of Dec I was sick of waiting and cancelled my order with them. They emailed me confirming they would refund me on the 4th Dec. I have still not received this money. They now do not reply to their emails and all their phone no's go straight to answer phone. I paid through paypal so have just tried to file a dispute but because they took the money over 45 days ago I cannot file a dispute!!!!! What should I do? They owe me £31.97!0 -
I ordered from them on the 3rd Jan. I ordered a large item and with the postage cost it came to £310. The money was taken out the next day but I have had no order confirmation from them. Luckily I wrote down my order number once payment was completed so I will be phoning them today. It was order for a birthday present so hopefully I will eventually get it. Their offices are based near me so i might be cheeky and offer to go and pick up the item!
Does anyone else have experiences with Jean-Patrique, hopefully some good ones so I can get my hopes up I will actually receive my item!
I have just got off the phone with Jean-Patrique. Apparently my item has been discontinued and they won't be getting any more in! I wonder if they would have let me know if I hadn't contacted them? They took my money fast enough but somehow couldn't find the time to let me know they didn't have any in stock! I would advise everyone to stay well clear of these people!0 -
Just got an order confirmation email from them, after my phone call yesterday when they said my order had been cancelled! The refund hasn't gone into my account yet so I will have to phone them again to make sure they haven't put the order through again as I have now found the item I wanted (a KitchenAid mixer) on Amazon!
It seems crazy that you can order a product on the 3rd and not get an order confirmation until the 11th! It must just be one person fulfilling all the orders and manually emailing each customer!0 -
The only Director listed for this company is Nicola Kent.
Their address is:
EURO HOUSE,
CREMERS ROAD
SITTINGBOURNE
KENT
ME10 3US
And forget their expensive phone line, ring the number listed for the company instead which is: 01795 429 900
Good luck! I recommend sounding like a business associate in order to get through to Nicola. If you tell them the real reason for your call, you won't get through I'm sure...0 -
I've ordered from these a couple of times, but both times by post. They arrived quickly, and they are the best knives i've ever used, so it could just be (admittedly quite a few) bad experiences.0
