The fact K mentions AVG clearly shows they dont know much about computers
My instructions are quite simple. I do know a bit about removing trojans. Probably more than most on here
If you decline my advice thats entirely upto you

Well excuuuuse me! Can you clarify? AVG free is the name of the anti-virus program I have and OP mentioned they have.
Excuse me if I am not a high brow techie, just trying to help someone out, since I had the exact same thing happen as OP!
Was not aware there was a set in stone formula I had to post in?????0 -

You can post whatever you like. the OP asked me a question and I answered it
My intention wasnt to upset anyone:idea:0 -
Well that may not have been your intention, but what result do you think will happen when you say I know nothing about computers, with no basis, when I too was trying to help OP?0
-
I didnt say you dont know anything. The basis was you use AVG. AVG is generally used by those that dont know other better FREE security programs exist.
Im not having a go for you trying to help. Thats what the forums all about. But if I feel bad advice is being given ill say as such:idea:0 -
Thanks for your reply. AVG was put onto the system by the professional who sold me the PC and since I have been happy with it I have not felt the need to change. I did add the Malwarebytes all on my own though since I wanted additional protection for peace of mind.0

AVG Free was OK up to to a couple of years ago now, I used to use it myself. But it's not OK any more.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

KxMx/macman/aliEn et al..............i appreciate all help.
I know very little about the tech side of computers it is nice that we all try to help each other.
I respect all of your views. aliEnRIK i know is very knowledgable as i have read many of his posts(not all 15,000) and he is held in high esteem on here.
Kx replied quickly and he did suggest malwarebytes too.Last but not least macman who i know posts helpful and sensible replies on many topics especially o2 broadband, which is great............only thing i disagree about is AVG which, like Kx,is currently not causing any prblems,so I'm with him on this one but i am always open to advice. We cant all know everything but the combined knowledge is powerful.
One final thing chaps...when i get round to aliens advice do i need to disable AVG..........?
Im a technophobe get me out of here....

The problem with that approach is that if your AV is not effective, you don't know if it's 'causing any problems' or not. You may well have malware on your computer that it has not detected, and you will know nothing about it. Much malware operates 'undercover' and does not display any obvious symptoms.
Thanks for your support! No free lunch, and no free laptop0
