Where do you put your cat's litter tray?

  • Until reading this thread, I always thought we were a bit 'odd' for having a cat litter tray in our spare bedroom - am now happy to see it's normal :D

Our third bedroom is a small box room, so we keep our cats' litter tray in there, out of the way. It's a covered tray, so smell upstairs isn't *usually* an issue. When we lived in our previous house, we did have it in the kitchen for a while, but it was by the door and well away from food prep areas... plus I don't think it's too bad if it's a covered one...

my cat has his own little bedroom - its a large storeroom that never got used so we put his litter tray and his bed in there - he also has his food given in there..........plus theres 3 shelves for his to climb on and off and the window to nosy out of ............i used to think i was quite zany giving him his own room but he loves it.....if hes ever spooked or wants some 'me' time he dashes straight there...

Same here - people often smirk at us if we mention something is 'in the cats' room' or if asked where the cats are our reply is usually 'oh they're probably in their room' :rotfl:

Mind you, even if my cat decides it isn't the right time for him to answer nature's call; he'll still come in with me (or visitors - he's not fussy) and try to get on your lap for a cuddle.

I live on my own so don't tend to shut my bathroom door and my cat often comes for a cuddle while I'm on the loo, can be quite offputting sometimes!

My cats covered litter tray is in the spare bedroom. Only person to stay has been my sister and she had to deal with it!

Corner of the kitchen in current house - basically in the place I'm least likely to step in it walking around half asleep bare footed in the dark.

I love the thought of that! Definitely in my next house there's going to be a room especially for the cats...I don't care if people think I have gone batty.

Did anyone see Come Dine With Me today? The host had one dog, three cats and three cat litter trays but the guests commented on how stinky and smelly the house was. He'd forgotton to clean out the litter tray under the stairs. One of the guests dry heaved at that. She also dry heaved in the bedroom at the thought of animals sleeping on the bed. Weird woman! Hopefully my house doesn't smell...

One of my kitties also joins me when I go to the loo. She just sits there waiting for a rub on the head. I nearly said "pat on the head" lol.
  • We have a large house so we have one downstairs in the understairs nook and we have one in the bathroom. The bathroom one has flushable litter too so it's like hubbys little zen garden when he's up there for a newspaper moment.
