Ours is in the bathroom, she usually poos in the afternoon/night/early morning when no-one is watching, so if it's there and we need a shower we clean it up. We have a little lidded bucket and nappy sacks for the poo so it doesn't pong and air freshener (but that's needed for us sometimes too lol)

Mine was under the stairs but when I got the dogs had to move it as there isn't a door it's just an archway and the dogs thought it was a delicatessan tray for them

So it now sits in the bathroom as no where else to put it away from the dogs and didn't fancy it being in a bedroom.

Cat will not use a covered tray so that wasn't an option and little dog is sooo dumb you could have laid money that he would try to get in it one day for a deli-treat and I'd come home to find a dog with a litter tray for a head!

Ours are in the spare room which, although has a guest bed in, is rarely used by us for anything other than storage. When we have people to stay they get moved out onto the upstairs corridor. (the trays, not the people!)

We used to have the covered tray in the bathroom in our old house. At least it kept all the bad smells in the same place!!
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire
  • Mine is in the downstairs bathroom. It's covered so doesn't look too unsightly. I have a drawer in one of the bathroom units for kitty things so they are out of the way too (nappy sacks, etc). Its a fair sized bathroom with a shower. If my cat does need to go when it's occupied, she sits outside in the hall to wait. Bless.

the litter tray is in the bathroom, right next to the toilet. the door is left open all the time unless someone is in there. I have found the cat waiting patiently outside the door on occasion, but he is also not averse to dashing in the bathroom with you, and using HIS litter tray while you are using yours!

HaHa! Mine is the same. If you don't want to do communal toileting ensure you shut the door as you go in otherwise it becomes a group activity! :D

Mind you, even if my cat decides it isn't the right time for him to answer nature's call; he'll still come in with me (or visitors - he's not fussy) and try to get on your lap for a cuddle.

I dont mind the 'communal' toileting! my OH says it freaks him out! and the cat doesnt like strangers so no way would he set paw out of the bedroom when strangers are in the house!
thankfully, he isnt a lapsitter either! he just does his business, kicks the litter over and a little outside the tray for luck,:) and waits patiently until I wash my hands and open the door for him.

    I've been Money Tipped!
ATM our landings and hallways. I'm not adverse to bathroom too, not just for the tray, my cats like to watch me bath, and one hops in and sits on my belly, the other sometimes sits on the edge, so I leave the door open for them :)

I have my two litter trays in the bathroom (which is huge). There's also newspaper on the floor for my little dog. For some reason, since the fireworks, she is reluctant to go outside when it's dark! She has a very good aim and never misses the paper. There's only me and visitors are infrequent so It doesn't matter to me whether there is an extra pong. I scoop out any solids and flush them down the loo.

What is it with dogs and the need to eat catty-poo!!!

one in the kitchen (quite large) and away from where we cook. it is actually in the corner next to the table, but only the cats eat on the table!

second one is in the downstairs loo, but they don't tend to use that one much anyways.

both are covered and scooped regularly.

in fact, they wait for me to scoop before they go in and do their business, so then i scoop again, and the second one goes in! i've tried leaving it for a couple hours before re-scooping, but the moment i walk towards it, i have the second cat as a follower!
