I am not doing great so far this month - although I haven't updated sig as I need exact amounts from DH. The snow is causing chaos here, so we have gotten extra bread and milk in the local shop (more expensive) and my plans for gong to Lisburn next week seem to be on hold. But hopefully we'll get back on track later this week.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

Hi everyone, just popped in to update my sig after my 'big' shop today. It was a bit bigger than I had planned as we have two extra guests for Sunday lunch and the joint I had in the freezer was too small. Never mind it won't be wasted!
My total looks alarming, but I have only two more big shops to do and the freezer is full, so I am not panicking - yet!
Hope you folks are all keeping warm - our central heating was fixed yesterday - it's bliss to have a warm house and makes me realise how much we take it for granted! Off to cook lunch before going to work - late night for me tonight so I hope it doesn't snow any more today.

Afternoon All,
I would like to declare £97-65 and 16 NSDs for November. Please put me down for £140 for December Mrs M.
I wish I could knit, I could do with another blanket in this weather.
Stew today I think, followed by crumble and custard, yummy.
Lets all try to resist the excesses, well resist paying full price for any of it at least.:T

Well, my first December shop actually happened on 30th November - only because I had to go into Reading to pay money into the Co-Op Bank (my nearest branch ). DH dropped me at the station and then picked me up on my return and since Mr T's Huge Extra Sandhurst store is just opposite, we went shopping.
I had already done my list, plus some of the stuff I needed to get to make Christmas gifts (e.g. ingredients for Salty Caramel Shortbread, the ingredients to "Ice" the bath bomb cupcakes I'm making, preserving sugar for chilli jam and a bottle of sherry), so I took a few Tesco Clubcard vouchers as well as my usual cash. Spent £111.15 after discounts, so £79.15 cash and £32.00 vouchers (AND that was with DH trailing round with the trolley - I told him he could put a few "goodies" in, as I had budgeted for the Christmas gifts stuff, and he spotted the pickles offer from Haywards, so we got 2 jars of pickled onions. Also got gherkins and so the pickles are all stashed away in my storecupboard, likewise the christmas gift ingredients and I'm starting my next week's list today.
Snowed like billy-oh here last night, so I checked with our elderly neighbours this morning to see if they needed anything (will be picking up cat food for their Tom-Kitten later today, otherwise they said they were fine). Got a call from the Job Centre at 7.30am to say not to bother to come in for the Back to Work session as they wouldn't be holding it after all, but I'll go stir-crazy if I have to stay in all day, so will put on my sturdy boots and walk into town later.
Hugs to all who need them!Obedient women are never remembered in History!

Hi everyone !
Im pledging £160 for December.
I struggled last month due to lack of planning, so will try harder this month.
This month might be hard as the snow is causing problems, as I read your posts I see others are having the same problem.
People are panic buying here and simple things are hard to get, I cant get carrots for love or money !.
Also I get cheaper food elsewhere when Im travelling to work but have not been able to travel in this weather. So I really hope it the weather calms down as it is going to end up costing people a fortune in extra expenditure and lower incomes .
Take care everyone x0 -
Hello Everybody!
First, thanks to the ladies for setting up the new thread and keeping tabs on us all!
Then, hoping you're all keeping warm and safe in this weather
And lastly, time to get excited for Christmas!!!
OK, pledge for the month - £90.
£70 is my normal bench mark, but we're going to have a Christmassy evening of mulled wine and mince pies etc. so an extra £20 for that. No spends to declare now, but probably going to visit Mr. A on my way to see the parentals this evening. Hoping for somw good pre-weekend woopsies!

Nick - we can sympathise, my OH has had to bus it to North Greenwich and then Underground as there have been no Trains on Southeastern early in the morning, he leaves home at 6:15am on a normal day. He hasn't even bothered trying to get a Train at the end of the day either, he thinks it's just as quick getting the Underground and then Bus. Still snowing here now and he left at 6am this morning but not heard from him yet, think journey today will be more difficult.
That sounds like my journey this morning...No SouthEastern trains from where I live, so went to another station with Southern - nothing there either. Got the bus to Lewisham to get the DLR to Canary Wharf, 3 trains passed but couldn't got on it. Finally did and my face was squashed against the door. Thing is, I work in north London and they have hardly ANY snow here
Delamo - I'm jealous of your sunshine!
Small spend of £1.20 again today. Having a bit of a using up odds and ends type of meal today - pasta with a few slices of bacon, some leftover chorizo, a few spring onions, frozen peas and creme fraiche, with grated cheese mixed in. Looking at this written down makes it look disgusting, but hopefully it will taste nice.:rotfl:Grocery Challenge Jan 24 0/300
