im new here, and this is my first month to join, so please go easy on me :p (not fully understanding the first few post instructions, but will as the month goes on :))
I'm aiming for £20 a week, this covers me for myself and my 3year old son, approx £10 of this will be on goats milk (grr:mad:) but when nursery closes this will go down, and i have cupboards full of food that im aiming to use up
    so £80 for December.
I sort of think it can be done, but then it is Christmas and I really should offer money to my parents for christmas dinner - hope i can!

    Hi all,
Was all geared up and ready to be super frugal this month, and then bang, all the good plans go straight out the window, as i was run into from behind waiting to go to work and subsiquently off with whiplash. so i can't bend to my oven, or reach up to my cupboards... so if any of you know some easy recipes that dont require a whole lot of effort or movement i would be really grateful, i have all the staples etc in my cupboard so that isnt an issue, its just making it!

Sorry to hear that but pleased from your later Post that you've had some good news and feeling a bit brighter.;)

    Hi All

Last night it took me 2 and a half hours to get home!! So I didn't end up buying any rice, so had couscous with the chilli.

And just as I thought the day couldn't get any worse, it looks as though I'll be having a bad journey home tonight because all the trains are down, so I'll be using buses... My nan has cancelled her Christmas meal this Sunday because she lives in the north of Lincolnshire and it's very snowy with few main roads - no-one wants to risk getting stuck there. So I guess I'll be in London this weekend. Then then East Coast trains are having problems so I'm worried if I'll get to Edinburgh next week. Is it wrong to want a stiff whisky before lunchtime? :rotfl:

I'm bored of the snow after one day....

Nick - we can sympathise, my OH has had to bus it to North Greenwich and then Underground as there have been no Trains on Southeastern early in the morning, he leaves home at 6:15am on a normal day. He hasn't even bothered trying to get a Train at the end of the day either, he thinks it's just as quick getting the Underground and then Bus. Still snowing here now and he left at 6am this morning but not heard from him yet, think journey today will be more difficult.

Dinner tonight will be Faggots - tried to make these myself in the past but the taste is just not as nice as "readymade".:o So no cooking for me and will only need to prepare the veg and spuds. Will be making some more cookies/muffins today, my Girls have been off School since Lunchtime Tuesday, School closed again today and they've had friends in and out to go sledging etc and we've had an extra friend sleepover the last 2 nights and at their age they just eat and eat and eat and eat. At least they are all enjoying themselves and I know they are safe.

    Keep Safe and Warm everyone.:)

NİCK--it does make me miss my days of commuting into the city'(not)-- my good wishes go out to you. İ left the uk because of the inclement weather and have never regreted it! it gets cold for 2 months of the year where i live but it is dry and sunny with rain only in autumn and spring -it has never snowed in any significant amount and the kids at school have no real concept of what it is like to play in the 'white stuff'!!

One good thing about the snow where I am, I can't get to a shop to spend anyway.I have plenty of stuff in the freezer and bread and milk so I shan't go hungry.Might get a bit stir crazy as I'm used to getting out, but it won't be forever so I will suvive o.k. I am going to have an inventory of what stuff I have and maybe reorganise my cupboards.Give me something to do at least.

I am, for once, really pleased with my spending yesterday:D I needed to go to Mr S (which is close by) as I had no qu0rn sausages or pieces in and Mr M does not stock them but DH wanted to go get the rest from Mr M so we ended up doing both! I can't believe he suggested it!

Next door came round to borrow a d/w tablet or two so I offered to get them stuff while I was out and their daughter offered to watch 7 month old DS to save taking him out in the snow.:D

Not a single spud in Mr S so it was a good job we were going to Mr M too. Lots of milk in both but hardly any bread. Glad we stocked up on the 50p loaves last week. Did manage to get next door a white 50p loaf though as they had 2 left.

Spent £9.42 on 1000g of pieces and 16 sausages in Mr S which will last us a good while. Then spent £45.46, got great offers on 4 packs of sausages at half price, 6 boxes of Ch1cago town mini pizzas on B1G2F, mince pies on B1G1F, dog food on 2 6 tins for a fiver and the nice man in the veg bit came over to point out some salad bags at 19p each when I was looking at the full price stuff so got 4, including cesear salad which I will have for lunch today:p All in all got £15 of food free and saved £4 on the sausages:D:T I am really pleased with this figure as I do not need anything until a week on Saturday and this figure includes £7.22 on baby formula too.

Mr M have their butchers choice sausages down to 95p from £1.97 for 8 if that is of any use to anyone. DH says they are lovely.

This also included an indian 'takeaway' style meal in a bag for DH as I had planned to make Weezle's bean curry but got that engrossed in filling in 2 job applications yesterday afternoon I ran out of time:o

DBIL coming for tea tonight so using up the leeks for last Friday's veg box and some of the sausages I got last week to make up a packet of leek and mustard with sausages. Will serve with mash and veg for the men. I will have something with some of the 19p salad.

My balance is looking quite high but this includes my turkey breast joint thingy and all my Christmas veg ordered from R1verford but not delivered until the 23rd.

Will have £11.55 going out on Friday for a veg box but that will be it for a week. I am sick of the snow and am not attempting to drive myself in it which is helping keep my spends down.

Oops sorry for the long rambling post.
