  • Spent another £5 in Mr S on nothing!!

On a brighter note, whilst not strictly GC (though they do sell food), I wanted to sing the praises of H*lland and B*rret.. went in to buy some supplements which are normally £15 and the very helpful shop assistant told me about a voucher in their magazine (£1.75 so I'd never have looked in it) which would get me £8 off my purchase. Hurrah for knowledgeable and nice staff!

I bought an oxtail and paid around £7 for it too so that seems average - HOWEVER! - I dont know what to do with it, and I am not sure if we would like it - every time I see it in the freezer I feel guilty at wasting so much - maybe I will be brave enough to defrost it and give it a go!

We get oxtail a lot cheaper from our butchers, about half the price in fact.
We love it and I usually dip it in seasoned flour, fry till starts to brown then bung it in a SC along with some onions and water, let it cook slowly for at least 4 hours more if possible then leave it overnight to go cold. Next day I remove any of the fat and take the meat off the bones. Put all the meat back in the SC along with more onions, carrots, swede, potatoes and anythig else you like. Cook till veg done and then I usually add some plain, mushroom or herb dumplings for 30 - 40 mins. thicken if needed and its lovely. Ohh could just eat some now but not got any in. Know what will be on the list next week.:)

First day of the Dec GC and its a NSD for me. Roads are really bad here and we live on a main road too, the estates are almost impossible to get on or off. Stay warm and safe everyone.

  • Just a quick question, I popped into Sainsburys yesterday and a CD 'fell' into my trolley :o, do I count that in my months grocery spend?

I'm up to over £12 already, that included £3 on advent calendars yesterday, so am Going to go through my cupboards and freezer tonight, write down everything I have then amend my online shop, also i'm going to be at my mums hopefully for a week to 10 days over Christmas so wont have to spend too much then, although I will have to get some bits as I'm following slimmingworld.

Oh and today is a NSD :D

    Hi all
I am so glad that today is the start of december!!!
Yesterday I made a list of everything needed to stock up larder etc.plus to prepare for more snow. We live on a steep slope up a long country lane and we were marooned this past weekend!!! So I have to be prepared.

I had a list and I bought everything on it plus tons of reduced items!!!!!
It came to! £133.67.... had a £6 Snbys voucher so it was only £127.67 :rotfl::rotfl:

I certainly have stocked up and I am planning to make this do us until week beginning 19th bar a few fresh items. The freezer had been well used last weekend. I used to have a massive one but got rid of it for a reasonable one half the size!!! Got some great bargains and calculated that it would have been over £180 if not reduced.

So I am going to include this in my Dec spend as it would be cheating to do otherwise.
Was hoping for a NSD today but its not to be as daughter needs to buy a birthday card:rotfl: :rotfl: plus I need to put money in it!!!!!
Ah well we would be rich if we didn't have kids...and mine are all taller than me so I cant whack them anymore:p Only kiddin;)

    take care in snow all.

    Hi all,
Was all geared up and ready to be super frugal this month, and then bang, all the good plans go straight out the window, as i was run into from behind waiting to go to work and subsiquently off with whiplash. so i can't bend to my oven, or reach up to my cupboards... so if any of you know some easy recipes that dont require a whole lot of effort or movement i would be really grateful, i have all the staples etc in my cupboard so that isnt an issue, its just making it!

    SS

SeductiveSmile, sorry to read about your accident and the subsequent whiplash, hope you soon feel better. Take care.

Thanks as always Mrs M, Pink and Rosieben - and to everyone else for the support.

November I stopped counting, but I think it was within a few pounds of target. Pleased with that as I bulk bought on offer cheese, cat food and got a turkey and some other December bits.

Mrs M Will you please put Hex2 down for £500 for December

I have already frittered £6.75 on F&V in the co-op.

Hello there, can I join again? Please put me down for £250 this month, and lets just hope I can pull it off, my Mother is coming to stay for 18 days so it will be tough, nothing ventured nothing gained though eh? Good luck everyone.
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!
