No,but they will ask you which one you have lost so make sure you give them the correct number of the lost card (Take the one that you still have out & ensure you tell them that this one is not the one you lost) they will than block the lost card so no one else can use it.0

Why did you take the card out in the first place? Normally it goes in and stays inThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

i just upgraded to sky HD and was testing if the sky card in the standard box works with the sky box i had prior to upgrading to HD, gave the sky plus box to my cousin left the card in it by accident he then sold it to someone and my card is long gone!0

Bummer, i was going to ask something also.
We have multi room, my daughter, the MR user has just moved out, taken her Sky box with her and the card. I guess if i ask for another card and buy a second hand box, then they will stop the one she has taken with her then.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Yes they will.Did you inform Sky she took the box in advance of her going? As the monthly ringback will fail so you may be billed full cost for her subscription instead of the normal £10.
As her box will fail the ringback or come back as connected to a phoneline not linked to your account when she does connect it,they'll cut it off anyway.(and possibly send you a full price bill too)0 -
Her box has was connected to the phone line at first then disconnected by her when the sky guy left.
They arent charging me at all at the moment, i asked then 2 months ago to stop the mr and they said keep it for now, we will give you half price sky for 6 months and then you can cancel it then if you want.
I dont understand what ths monthly ring back you have mentioned.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The monthly ringback is Sky's way of checking all of your Sky boxes are in the same house & connected to the same phone number. It basically stops you having the main box in your home & the multi room one in your mom's house a few miles away, where she only pays a tenner instead of full price.Sky aren't really concerned about it in a single install but insist on it for multi room.
Used to get faults all the time when I was at Sky where the customer hadn't got the boxes connected to the phoneline or the modem in the Sky box was faulty & they got a bill for 2 or 3 full price subscriptions..You get 2 or 3 warning letters first then the big bill.(I got one when my Sky box went faulty)0 -
Where she has gone to live with her partner, she has put it in there, but surely if they had multi room installed in that house they would still have only a tenner to pay. So they wouldnt be any worse off.
The sky engineer came yesterday and installed Sky, (they dont have a telephone line yet) they explained everything to the engineer and he told them not to worry about it as it wasnt connected to a phone, and wont be. Didnt say anything about where the box had been before and didntsay anything about a monthly ring back.
So I presume that SKY will phone here, find the box isnt connected to the phoen and will shut it down. So I just say then that I didnt need it anymore and got rid of the box, (i think) Multi room gone, job done.
In which case they will have to get there own mr in the new house.
It all seems very complicated.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

As Spike says, they won't automatically stop the card. They'll start charging you 2 full subscriptions.
For instance, if you currently pay £50/month for your package including the multiroom and the mutiroom box stops responding to their ringbacks, they'll knock the £10/month off the £50 and then charge you for 2 full subscriptions at £40/month each. Therefore you'll be paying £80/month.Dave. :wave:0 -
She will be worse of as she was only paying a tenner at your home & will have to pay full price at her new home, unless she's hoping to still pay you a tenner a month & get the service at her new home for that price, which is why Sky do the ringbacks.Where she has gone to live with her partner, she has put it in there, but surely if they had multi room installed in that house they would still have only a tenner to pay. So they wouldnt be any worse off.

The Sky installer's talking out of his hoop...
Sky's engineers are just installers with little or know knowledge of anything except installing Sky.They also don't really care much as they get paid by the job & therefore want to get in & away as quick as possible. If she got multi room installed yesterday, she'll have to connect the boxes to the phone line.
Sky will eventually kill the card in the box but,in your case, worse case would be that Sky look at how long you have had multi room, how many callbacks have failed & back bill you full cost for the packages.0
