Just a quickie

My friend met a guy last thurs and he said he would take her out on the fri, he did she went to the cash point he was behind her. Days went by and come tues she goes to the cash point cant find her card goes into the branch and they tell her that she has no money (the account has been emptied by this time) the guy she had met has seen her pin number and cleared her account out. she is on benefits can she get any or all of the money back either from the benefits agency or via the bank. The money was taken out of her bank at the guys uni campus in a different city??? Im assuming that there is nothing that she can do, she has been to the police and has a crime number...........

Has she spoken to the bank about this. They should refund the money so that should be her first port of call.

The bank could justifiably claim that she has been negligent in allowing her pin number to be used by someone known to her. Sorry to be harsh but why should the bank refund in these circumstances?

    A bit of a toughy...
I dont think they will pay out.
I mean, we could all ask a "friend" to clean out our bank account and then claim the money back from the bank.

I agree with the others as well. She has been negligent with her card and PIN so the bank do not have to pay out. This is nothing to do with the benefits agency either. If they have paid her money to her and it is has been stolen, that is not their problem.

I agree with everyone else as well, but there's no harm in trying the bank... its the only hope... nothing else she can do, doesnt have a choice... or she can make a little fib that someone must have looked over her shoulder and nicked the card from her purse
