CHALLENGE - can I make a living from comping?

Good luck with your challenge, I stumbled accross comping after my OH was made redundant and I was looking for a third job to add to my 2 already as things were looking a bit bleak!! Sorry to hear your in a similar situation.
Luckily OH found something after a few months, by then I already had the comping bug. I don't think I would be anywhere near making a living, but then I have a limited amount of time to enter comps so just stick to things suitable for me and the family. It may not be a second (or third) income but between the comping and the freebies we have had some lovely treats and things that I would never of been able to justify paying for. I have won about half of Christmas so I don't think thats bad going.
Good luck with your comping and with finding a new job.:hello:0 -
Hiya Treacle
Sorry to hear about your redundancy, I wish you the best of luck to fund the basic overheads until you find a new job, I suggest that you get a set figure to 'earn' each month, do not discount ebay, this could also be a good area to sell things that are hanging about the home. I went through my cds and dvds, the dvds that i really like I copied and sold the original and downloaded all the music cds to the computer and then to a memory stick (a win, have not been lucky enough to win a ipod to load ). All to ebay, you would be really surprised and what you can make.
Wish you the best of luck, not brill with comping advice, but might be with other stuff, just PM me.2020: New Year, New Decade, New Adventures!!

Sorry to hear about your redundancy. I can kind of vouch for the fact that you cannot make a living from comping - I'm a student in my last year of uni and at the moment it's my only source of income - so I'm still really rather poor! :rotfl:(and I enter a LOT, everything I know I, or someone I know would like)
As long as you go into it lightheartedly and don't expect to make a living from your wins, or stress yourself out from it, it should be fun. Plus, you don't REALLY want to have to sell all those lovely things you might win, do you?
Good luck on the job hunt! (and with the comps!)2008 wins: £5615 2009 wins: £2832 2010 wins: £1265 2011 wins: £1888 2012 wins: £1000 spa voucher0 -
I think winning comps has got much harder over the years as most are down to luck. I am sure I would be homeless if I tried actually living of my comp wins and I spend 30 plus hours a week entering. Lots of luck though and hope you get a job sorted soon.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0

good luck to you
i think unless you get a huge win its deffinately not possible but i do wish you luck. i lost my job and had some nasty health probs so went to retrain as an accountant as its something i enjoy and i love being back at college now.i am starting doing the books for a charity shop to get experience too. i would def look into retraining or volunteer work to help. i have been very lucky this year but all my wins are things i keep or give to family members i don't sell any of them. all the best to you xxxxxxx
:j First prizes back into comping after a break - romantic break to 2 to Venice/ Paris or Rome with romantic trip and a 42 inch TV and blu Ray amazing !
Thank you all so much and good luck guys and girls xxxxxx0 -
I lost my job in June and have been comping on and off since - I'm pregnant, so it wasn't going to be possible to get another job before baby comes along.
I only really started doing it more seriously in September and definitely haven't made a living out of it. I do sell things on ebay but generally speaking, only get about 50% of the RRP when I do sell things, plus you can't sell everything. So if I've won £500 of stuff in a month, I'm lucky to sell what I can for about £150 - certainly not enough to make a living out of. But one big win could change all that!
But it does mean that I can put some money aside and help my husband buy bits and pieces for the house & baby, which I wouldn't be able to do on Mat Allowance/Jobseekers.
Good luck though!2010 Wins: World Cup Party, tkts to Craft Fair, Tefal Multicook, Disgo Netbrowser, iPod Nano & Dock, Ashleigh & Burwood Fragrance Lamp, tkts to The Baby Show, Maxi Micro Scooter, tkts to 1 day international cricket, Terry's Segsations, 2 Frusli bars, Max Factor eyeshadow, Soreen mobile wind up charger, Mitchum deodorant, £100 vouchers0
