CHALLENGE - can I make a living from comping?

  • Just to clear this up a bit - this is only to see if it is possible whilst I am jobhunting.

Most xmas jobs are gone now and there really isn't much going - will prob be new year til I find a new job.

If I had sold my vip epsom tickets i'd have easily made £750-£1000 (got offered £500 in cash by someone stood outside on the day - but already had the outfit, travelled for 3 hours to get there and really wanted to go.)

My FREE bingo win last month was £1500

Haven't really sold much before - Some of the makeup wins to old colleagues etc..

Don't think i'll ebay - think i'd rather sell on local freead sites or do a bootsale once in a while.

My total for the year to date as in my signature is since Mid-May

I once knew a lady called Sally from Torquay - who had literally won her holiday every year and almost refurnished her home from comping.
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!
  • Good luck i think it is possible :-) When i put the effort in a do quite well! If i just enter dribs and drabs i win nothing lol!

Sorry to hear about your job :( that's a bummer.

I started comping when I went back to uni and it didn't make me too much money but I always had a little something for people's birthdays and my ds christmas bundle.

I haven't been comping that much since working full time the past 2 years but keep us posted it's always nice to hear about the big wins on here, keeps me going :D

Good luck with job hunting, sending you comping fairy dust :A

good luck.. when i found out i was pregnant i set myself the challange of winning everything i needed for baby, and i must say i have been very lucky i have managed to get everything we need by winning and selling comp wins on ebay, also i have managed to save enough money from selling comp wins, to be able to stay off work for an extra 4 months after my maternity pay finishes, all i need now is my baby! almost a week late!!

Hi Treacle, I hope you do manage to make a living from comping, even just to get you through Christmas, Your right it's the wrong time of year for finding a job, just a tad too late for most of the seasonal work. I only started last month so not a good person to say if you can or not. All I can say is if you enjoy it then put in the hours you can...it won't do any harm and you may win big... Fingers crossed for you x

I wish you the best of luck and will be following your progress.

The problem is that if effort was all it took I would have won more than what is in my signature but at the end of the day its effort and a lot of luck and comping fairy dust.

One good win on a T.V. comp would tide you over I suppose.

BTW redundancy is not pleasant but I hope your employer handled it as nicely as they could.
  • really sorry to hear about your job, like Hayleyw1 when I found out I was pregnant I started comping to try and win some baby stuff and anything to assist with enabling me to have as long off after the baby is born. I only ever win tickets for shows - been to the good food show today and had a hotel stay last night - spent the whole day hoping baby didnt put in an appearance!
Good luck with the 'challenge' like ppl have said - one big win would tide you over nicely. x
Baby girl born 02/12/10 - comping taking a slight back seat!
  • IT IS DEFINITELY NOT POSSIBLE - ARE YOU MAD??????
Good luck though with the comping :rotfl:
