Any idea whereabouts you want to stay? I live in a nice village in South Lakes (not one of the honeypots though) which has nice pubs with good food ansd accommodation. I can PM you if you like...

We stayed at a lovely guest house at Ings (just outside Windermere) which has a pub nearby that does really good food and the breakfast at the guest house is superb.

Would the pub be the Watermill? Have to agree about the food - and the real ale ain't half bad, either!

    Thats the one!

The Meadowcroft Guest House just along the lane is brilliant, even though it is by the road and garage. We didn't have any problems with noise and it is clean and tasteful.

    Try the Laterooms website.

I live just outside the Lakes area and Windermere and Ambleside are nice places to stay.

    Thanks everyone
We really don't know where we want to go - ashamed to say we have never visited the lakes before - just want to relax enjoy some comfort and great food (also it's my belated birthday pressie from OH so I need to spend some money for him he, he) plus get out for a nice walk

  • Ambleside is my personal favourite

Good starting point for a few walks and short driving distance to North Lakes area.

Last time we went was with our 6 month old daughter and we managed to find a walk around the centre of Ambleside that pointed out a lot of the points you would never usually notice

Would reccomend the Apple Pie Shop for good food & also enjoyed a drink at Lucys (there are 3 or 4 of these around Ambleside)

Try http://www.amblesideonline.co.uk/ for some useful info

The only thing you cant guarantee unfortunately is the weather

    Hi

Try High Wray Farm - https://www.highwrayfarm.co.uk - they are a B&B, the hospitality is fantastic, the views unbroken, and the breakfasts georgeous - the nearest village is Hawkshead and there are some lovely pubs there that serve up good food. Found High Wray by accident a couple of years ago and we have been back to the B&B twice and the cottage twice.
