You neither need to test it or anything else if you follow the manf/stealers recommendations, ie, re changes.

Would I trust some low rated nonmainstream super market product over that???

    No contest,

If in doubt change the !!!!!!! stuff, actually, change it anyway:T:T:T:T
    3 year warranty !!!!!

Lidl is a bigger supermarket chain than Sainsburys, Morrisons, Waitrose etc.

They are worldwide, they have about 9000 stores.;)

I love them, I use them here and in Spain.:)

I have a free method - take the car into my local battery shop and they will do it, no charge.

Would a battery shop not just say your battery is knackered whatever the outcome just to sell you a new battery?

Anyway, this is for antifreeze testing! :p

i do it the old fashioned way

dip you finger in a taste a drop dont drink to much it can kill the glycol has a sweet taste which does diminish with age.
after a few years pactise you will know exactly how seet it should be. This was a technique the russians used back in the old wars to ensure there planes stayed mobile.

antifreeze is just a type of glycol that appears in many food for sweetening them i.e donuts from tescos
i wouldnt have a mouthful tho as it can paralyse and kill and blind

About 7 left in my place all blue/yellow called "coolant" tester

Did anyone see the white ones as illustrated on the Lidl website?

The yellow ones have -10 at the top of the stick and it goes down to -40 at the bottom

    UK_53564_01_b.jpg

This picture will dissappear as soon as Lidl removes it from their website so if anyone wants to archive it do it now.

But the white one has -40 at the top of the stick and goes down to 0 at the bottom although this could be +40 to 0

The shelf edge label says "antifreeze or coolant tester"

When I was in the shop I saw a 5 litre blue liquid (same manufacturer as the testers I think) which I assumed was screenwash for £5 I took a double take when I read "antifreeze" on the label, on reading the label in full it went on to say it was for screenwash!

I'm thinking the white one is called antifreeze tester on the box and refers to screenwash - because this manufacturer (the Germans?) obviously calls screenwash 'antifreeze'. The graduated scale makes little sense with 40 at the top.....Unless screenwash is less dense than water and becomes less dense with greater protection???

My car turned out to be -25 protection however it was still warm. The stuff remaining in the 5 litre bottle (see previous post) was -14 protection so must be diluted.

Advising people to put Anti Freeze in to their mouths is not very clever.

In any case, if it takes years of practice, that isn't going to help anyone this year, is it?

    .

Glad you got one, there were no white ones in my store either.

If the above bottle had a small spout on the side near the cap, it is screenwash, very good it is as well.

Went to around 5 stores, 4 had shelf labels but an empty shelf and the other had no sign of them. All stores mentioned that the trolley jack would come in later due to delivery problems.

Yep, I too have used lidl in spain and the canaries, and the other one 'scuse memory. (Aldi)But there they are upper market, here they smell of scrpite.

You ever tried to claim of a 3 year waranty?, Top tip, don't bother trying

I do understand what you are saying as over "there" a lidl or Aldi bag is like a Harrods bag over here.

Plain brown paper does me so long as the contents still work:beer: Hic Hic
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Yes Aldi, tho' in Spain the company is owned by the Brother of the UK Aldi's.

You must be unlucky Bri, my local Lidl's is far cleaner and nicer than the scruffy Tesco across the road.

Yup, took a faulty keyboard set back after 2 years, got full refund, I always staple the receipt to the box and keep the boxes in the loft.;)
