Hi All
I'm hopefully moving to Billericay Essex and need a fast reliable broadband service in the area so can anyone recommend a company. I would be happy to have a package which included phone calls.
At present I'm on virgin 50m and they only have 10m available in Billericay which i feel will not be fast enough as the kids have there xbox's/ps3's which they play on line and we all have computers which is all used by a wireless router so as you can see when we are all using the broadband I wouldn't want it to be slow.
I was wondering what BT's hub would be like, anyone in the area have this? Sorry I have no idea when it comes to this sort of thing. Hope you can help.
Thanks
O one other thing can I redirect my ntl email address to my new broadband user?

10Mbps cable will give you 10mbps ish, chances are they will upgrade the service at some point. Any ADSL service will depend on your distance from the exchange.
Are BT rolling out infinity in that area?
BTW Most people would be more than happy with a 10Mbps service. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
thanks penrhyn for you post
We had 10m before we got 50m and it was so slow when we all was using it.
I think they do have infinity in that area but was wondering whether people have any complaints with it. I've checked on here and there seems to be but dont know if it's that area also I dont want to be tied into a contract and having problems.
When the teenagers are playing games on line it slowed up on 10m0 -
I just hope for your sake you never move to some rural location 4 miles from the exchange with a sub-1Mbps dodgy BT line!
Are you sure you were actually getting the 10Mbps with VM that you were paying for?
Your only options are going to be VM and hope for a later upgrade. or the very expensive BT Infinity if it's rolled out to your new location yet.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Are you sure it is 10Mbps they offered and not 8Mbps? I don't think any of the cable areas only support 10Mbps but there are plenty of areas without cable at all where Virgin will offer the abysmal Virgin National ADSL product.
Check and see what it says about cable, Infinity, and LLU here - http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php0 -
Thanks everyone
I've just checked there's no fibre optic cables in the area for virgin so that rules that out.
What about Idnet and zen would they be any better? I read somewhere that they have fibre optic when using bt line i think.0 -
Correct, no VM in the Billericay area.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Incidentally,VM's fibre Optic cable runs ONLY up to the street Mux/DA,which can be up to 1/2 a mile from your home, from there it is copper to the street cab & then on to your home.0

Also if everyone was using 10Mbps, even th L package would surely hit the throttling limit.
I'd guess the lack of limit on 50Mbps was more pertinent than the higher speed.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Its the cable from the exchange to the subscriber thats copper, the rest of the telecomms infrastructure uses optical transmission systems. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Ok thanks for that info so would zen or idnet be a better provider than say sky,bt,virgin, talk talk and o2 what I'm trying to say who would give me a better service and the least problems given that we are heavy users?
So which should I use ADSL DLSL or LLU services?
thanks to you all for taking the time to post.0
