I've just found the bag of fuses I took out of the upstairs heaters - (was hoping to find them for cheery coming up here) and offer her warmth in her bedroom.
mwoahoahoahoahaahaohoah - just figured out I might be able to put one in my heater and have a warm room for one night (well an hour or so anyway!) won't go bonkers.
I'm going to work up there I think and keep cosy.
Oh its the small things that keep you going eh? Took fuses out in March -not been on up there since.

Wow that is dedication 3am. I bet you needed that bath when you got home. Wellies in work is not good given the imminent danger of floods.
Hope you are cosy and warm there and that you dont work too late tonight. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -

Hellp peeps! Hope you are all cosy and dry and not flooded out or frozen or being blown sideways.
Pippi I thought of you this morning, sadly found a dead male chaffinch just outside the door, looks as though it may have flown into the glass, and I wondered if I should pop it in the freezer just in case anyone happened to want one in future... Not sure who might, haven't seen any requests for dead birds on Freecycle yet, though you never know - maybe I should offer it :rotfl:0 -

Oh wouldn't that be pretty - I'd almost say can I have it - but maybe not in the post eh?
We froze a firecrest once - to show the kids - wonderful!!

The Firecrest is the smallest native British bird isn't it? Must have been absolutely beautiful.
You did indeed congratulate me on my purchases!I seem to be going through a bit of a patch of finding bargainous stuff at the moment - long may it last.
Re heaters - if it helps any I have the meter thingy on our little oil filled rad at the moment - shall I force myself to stick it on for an hour so I can give you an idea of costs? It's a 1kw heater, and I have it set to medium, our power and yours may differ sightly but it'll give you a rough idea in any case.

Oh yes please - and it was tiny - looked very 'punk' with its yellow splash in its hair.

hello glad to hear you're all tucked up and safe and warm.
I escaped for a couple of hours tonight to look after my nephews and neices, but i'm safely home again and although still suffering i feel that things are starting to improve. Slowely
played with my spreadsheet this afternoon and i think the windows will only set my DFD back 6months assuming 100% of the money comes out of my savings, which isn't too bad i guess.0 -
Right - 1 hour showed at 21p on the meter, BUT I have the meter set to the "expensive" rate which we have our first XXX units of each billing period at - so I reckon the actual cost was about 8 - 10p for the hour. It's done a surprisingly good job of warming the room as well - this room is 12' x 21' IIRC so not a bad size and it's feeling nice and snug. We have the big storage heater at one end and this little oil filled rad at the other.
Next Hebrides trip is Easter next year - the cottage is booked ready and we're saving like mad toward it! Got money stashed for that, the ferries, diesel, food, and are just now saving for spending money!Actually was just checking the FlyBe site to see about the times of the inter-island fights while we're there as we want to fly across to Barra and land on the beach!

that's not a bad price if it makes things warm EH. Recently as i've been suffering (have i mentioned that at all
lol) i've put more radiators on in the house and had them on for longer to keep things actually warm. Will be interesting to see what difference it makes to the damp problem.
