Another random one about food - if you have an Iceland, cheri, they're good for bags of frozen veg, and they sometimes have really good offers on branded quorn - tho I wouldn't trust them for much else.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thank you KC - I don't have one but will remember that when at OH's as there is one in KDY
I've just given my basil another severe hair cut - just workign out how long ago I cut it last time [eta (17 may I cut it last)] - but same huge amount of leaves againabout 120g in about 10-12 days
Few dead stems and a bit of botrytis (grey mould) so picked that bit out and they seem ok, if a bit short haired for the moment. Clever little basil!
Was reminded to do it as grabbed a handful of frozen leaves for the tomato sauce am making

Hi, Only just discovered your thread, amazed I've not spotted it before.
I love how you're managing to live the dream, OK the scottish island with snow and gale force wind version
We've toyed with both opting out, or me starting to live the dream with OH still working, but it would be a bit like you and your OH where we'd end up not seeing much of each other, and currently that's too big a downside for us.
Oh if we do get the dream in England I'll be in touch for stocking the garden0 -
Cheri - you might not have cheaper supermarkets nearby, but what we do is if we're going places for OH's work or we're visiting family & friends we do a stock up if they've got one nearby, or we can pass en route. We definitely do 'cherry pick' the best special offers, and value versions and bulk buy enough to last us until we're near them again.0

Hi pippi - life sounds pretty good for you atm and well done on your thesis work too!
As for me I have jsut finished the 1st yr of my masters course and am due back in Oct for the final yr - just waiting to see if I have passed the final module in July then will have passed the 1st year. Can't believe how quick its gone this year has flown by so far!
I'm aimig for freezer food use up for the next few weeks as have a load of stuff in and sick of topping up from Mr S when I should be aiming to use up what I have in more and aim to be a bit more MSE and get some NSDs in too
Off to make a pizza base (well the BM is not me!) then sort some garden stuff out. I bought a load of poor neglected plants yesterday for next to nothing and all they needed was a good water and a new home so better sort some new homes out for them - some perennials - hollyhocks (50p), a shrub (£1 from £12!) plus some bedding plants
Have a good rest of weekend and I am enjoying my restful sunday without stressing about studying for the first time all year!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Pippi, thanks that is of enormous use. I am not behind the doors but sometimes even the most obvious things evade me, like turning leftovers into pies DOH.
KC - we do have and Iceland and I often pop in there when in Lidl as its next door. I have had some good offers on Linda Mac sausages (£1 as opposed £1.89 and I do like my sausage and mash tea) and I often buy the frozen veg at £1 as I turn it into curry or chilli so not really an issue if it isn't top notch. Thanks for the reminder. I will probably head into there on Tuesday to buy a load for the freezer
Se999 - Thanks, I often think about popping into these places when I am out on the road. The only problem for me there is that I am usually heading to meetings or open days and so there is no option to stop on the way there. Then it is usually after 8 or 9 at night when I am finished and the last thing I want to do before travelling for 2 hours is shop. The nearest Mr T for me is an hour and half drive away and that isnt always the area that I am heading to work.
Great ideas though. Pippi, I often kill off my supermarket plants so I will try your techniques. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Your menu sounds fab! :T :T Well done you! :T:T Wish I could be up there cooking for you while you finish writing!0
