Morning all just packing up seeds and sorting post - about to list more stuff on ebay (cuttings) and will tackle more seeds tonight - need to rethink my ebay prices because if you only get 2/3 eg 76p for a 99p sale or 52p from a 75p sale (with the free postage taken off (32p)) I hardly make anything at all.
Luckily the stamps are very old (from xmas 4 years ago) and therefore although they cost me then - its so long ago it hardly counts (right..............!)
Hmm need to think about this more- on the plus side my stars are upping as I do it
Morning all

Morning Pips, definitely up your prices if you can (I don't know what the competition charges), but I've given up on ebay as I resent the fact you pay 3 times - once to list, once at the end and a fee to Paypal (as they are owned by ebay!!!).
How is everyone on my beloved DD's 6th birthday? She loves her presents from me and not unsurprisingly, was politely underwhelmed by her father's offering through the post - of a notebook.........yup, a notebook. No card, no visit since sometime last summer (the second of 2 3hour visits that year, similar to the year before), no Christmas present. What a winkie boy he isLoathe him more than I dare to share.....
Anyway, onwards and upwards. The lovely MrA is coming over at some point today whilst I'm working from home making birthday cake to wrap his carefully thought out present of a game to her, and then the three of us are going out for scrummy dinner. Can't wait to see himKeep your fingers crossed he's feeling well today as it would be just our luck if he's having a bad day.....

Pippi, definitely, the costings need to be made really carefully - those online charges really add up.
KK - happy birthday for DD! What a lovely age.... hope MrA makes it over - and as for DD's birth dad - hmph!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
(()) your dd happy birthday (())
off out - catch you all later!!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Happy birthday to KK's DD! Hope she has a lovely day!
Pippi can you find alternative sales outlets alongside ebay? I agree the fees are extortionate, though sometimes it is the easiest way to find a buyer for obscure or special interest items. What about things like Gumtree, Preloved, is there any sort of local place on the web? Can you sell to people you teach? Can you sell through your blog? Or set up a sales website alongside and linked to it?0 -
There's another auction site called ebid that I think is cheaper than ebay, not sure how well known it is, it's not particularly slick but I think was set up as a more down to earth alternative to ebay. I've bought some DVDs on there.
DD is certainly having a great day so far, I brought her breakfast in the sitting room whilst she was watching Octonauts, she proudly showed off her new lunch bag to all and sundry when she went in to school and as it's her teacher's birthday today as well, they'll probably be celebrating all day!
Have invited some neighbours over for cake after school (and they'll get to meet MrA rather than just hearing me wax lyrical about how wonderful he is), then dinner tonight, and we have a weekend of fun planned as well with the party on Saturday and grandparents coming down for the day on Sunday!! I wish I could turn 6!!
Suppose I need to think of what, if anything, to do for my 40th next month, but organising fun for others is far more exciting0 -
Morning all, hpope you are all well.
Glad you are going to sort out your postage prices Pippi..can't have you losing all your profit!!
:eek:to the CO incidents??! We have had a CO monitor for a few years now...we have gas central heating as well as a gas hob on our cooker. Also have an air-brick into a chimney to allow constant ventilation.
Happy Birthday to your DD Kittikins...ooh 6, a lovely age...hope you all have a wonderful day.:bdaycake:
I've told DS he needs to hoover the whole house today, as well as take down the fleece we have had attached to the conservatory ceiling. It's helped to reduce heat-loss the past few years, but is so old (and dirty, yuk!) it is starting to fall apart and drift down. He said we was going to do it last weekend, but never did..no college for him today, so I am making the most of him!!!
DH's birthday tomorrow, so need to make his cake....the favourite is chocolate and beetroot brownie cake, iced with Delia's chocolate icing...yummy!!!! We did it for both boys' birthdays and it went down very well. Being a brownie recipe, it gets better as it ages...there might even be some left when DS comes home from Uni on Sunday...possibly!! :rotfl:
Have a great day everyone

Yummy to chocolate and beetroot brownie cake, can you post the recipe please? I've made a butterfly shaped sponge (the traditional birthday cake for all those we love) and from a packet, some wheat/gluten/dairy free brownie mix for MrA (and no doubt me and others will chip in to help out, it's quite big!)0

This link has a couple of other interesting looking recipes, so must investigate!!!
For the cake, I use half a tray's worth and cut it in two and sandwich together with Delia's chocolate icing (I use double the quantity to fill and cover).
My DS's GF is gluten intolerant, but is fine if she only has a small piece...not huge wadges (she l:heart2:ves chocolate, but still manages to be so skinny)!!!! Still not tried it out with GF flour...must have a go sometime.
Beware, this is very moreish!!! I have ready-greated beetroot in the freezer, as I cook a batch at a time (usually woopsied) and grate it, weighing it all out and freezing into the right amount for this recipe
Enjoy:D

Oh.my.goodness. Those brownies look amazing
, I could even try using gluten free flower if I was feeling particularly generous to MrA (so far the GF cakes we've had have been yummy) and yippee there's a parsnip/carrot cake on the link too (I have a bag of parsnips and loads of carrots that need using up fast.
Roll on tea time! Going to pick MrA up in a bit, yippee!! He's not well enough to cycle over but will be fine to be sociable he says, thank goodness. Thank goodness we live just down the road from each other0
