Lucky Mr Stripes to have a music room, hope he appreciates the sacrifice you've made by moving not one but 2 stripey freezers out of the way for him, lol.

Well, I did eventually get to sleep, and have had such a splendid weekend. MrA has proven himself to be a keeper indeed :) and even though he's a 6 foot chap, seems to take up far less space than a certain 5 year old DD!! Just dropped him off and am awaiting the return of DD through the wind and rain. I've hidden all her little Valentine's Day presents and hear that she's been doing some secret things at grandparents' house so wonder what goodies I will have in the morning :)

the house i used to rent backed onto pasture land/fields, was all good and well until it came to muck spreading time, if it wasn't the smell it was the flies that took over.

Sounds pretty lovely to me (even the pooh smell - just reminds me of countryside, which I miss!) :D

  • Anyone any idea - lurking or otherwise

Manchester airport - from terminal 3 how long to get to the train station at the airport? I'm flying on Tues and trying to book a train - I can get one 55 minutes after my plane lands or one hour and 55 mins after it lands - wondering if there is enough time to get from plane (with no luggage) to train in 55 min???.

I only know (from website) that from terminal 3 it takes 15 mins to walk to the terminal 1 - how long from terminal one to train station?

Thank you any one who knows!!!!

  • You should be ok with 55 mins afterwards- although there are trains going out all of the time, and it is one place that is very well serviced.

  • I think that sounds fine, Pippi. I can't actually think right now in terms of minutes but it's dead close. 15 mins maybe. 30 mins max, depending on what waiting around is like, I reckon.
  • It is really close, and if there is no baggage to wait for, even better.

Don't know the airport at all but looking at this map:
    http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/manweb.nsf/Content/AirportFullViewMaps
Terminal three and one look to be next door to each other so if that is a 15 minute walk it must take nearly an hour to get to the train station (assuming the map is to scale).

For safety I think I would book a later train or check if there is a price difference between booking now and on the day and maybe get a ticket when you arrive?

    Not much help am I!!!!!

ETA Ah! Local knowledge is always better :)

Assuming the moving floors are working and you walk whilst they're moving you can go from one end of the airport to the other in 15 minutes - DD2 and I go there to plane spot a lot but find the flying floors are more fun than the actual plane spotting. T3 tot he station is perfectly do-able in 10 minutes ( but allow 25 if the moving floors aren't working). Theres also a sensibly priced Spar in the arrivals area under T3 if you need to stock up on drinks and snacks and its so out of the way that they usually have a cheap stash of whoopsied junk food.

Good luck with the trip dahhn sarrf Pippi, looks like you're getting helpful transport advice above, I can't add to that, sorry, but sending hugs and reiki and soothing vibes for you, Wik and family xx

Yay, it's Monday (yeah, right, yawn, DD was in my bed snoring and trumping all night, gruesome child, so I'm tired yet again as I've not slept particularly well!!). We've got our traditional Val Day cards from grandad to open, and DD and I have both made secret presents for each other, so hope she hurries up and wakes up soon, as I want to see how creative she's been :)
