A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Unfortunately DD's only seen her useless selfish twerp of a father four times in the last 2 years, for a grand total of 12 hours, so I rarely get a night off, but is getting a bit easier now she's started having the odd sleepover :( so I will make the most of her being at grandparents next weekend ;):)

DD's seen MrA's pic on FB and whilst she doesn't know I'm dating or even what dating is, she has heard his name in passing and thinks he looks nice........so the next step will be to meet up with him for lunch or a day out, then having him come over for dinner. This is of course assuming that she likes him when she meets him. Don't want to think of how rubbish it would be if she hated him (she didn't like one of my previous friends so he didn't last long!), but I'm sure she won't as he is a great dad to his own son, unlike the former friend who just tolerated his own children, so other people's didn't get a look in!!

I'm enjoying daytime dates too :) Saves on getting a babysitter too, lol.

I lay awake listening to the aerial creaking away on the roof thinking 'I should get that taken down before it does some damage' and watching the wheelie bins playing skittles in the street. If they hit a car all sorts of bells ring and lights flash - oh no, now I think about it they are car alarms!

I want to go on the choo choo too! Many years ago went to Switzerland with school, and went on the boat train, and then the night sleeper to Interlaken. Loved the journey.

  • kk - re the dates thing. I found it easier when DS was young, as he was babysat at grandparents. Now that he's an adult although my head says 'he can like it or lump it' and obviously the actual going out isn't a problem; I find myself more conscious of the fact that he knows what is 'going on'. I remember being horrified in my twenties to discover my parents didn't just sleep in their bed!

  • Gilli your post made me giggle! Wheelie bin skittles :)

Kk sounds like a plan. Sorry exdaddy is a twonk - mines is ridiculus but always has as much long distance time as he can have. It's such a juggle - sleepovers let you have a pee die break I guess - me too the only time off iget is when they are at dads or away adventuring on their own. Makes your bonds stronger I guess - glad she likes the look of him - it's a balancing act!!

Off to investigate chicken hideyholes - hope they are ok :)

  • Ps gilli you right - trying to negotiate the bedroom which was a bit on it's own in this house took a bit of doing without directly asking for a bit of privacy!

In the end I opted for OHs snoring bothering everyone (lol) and he needed a quiet space. I'm sure my son sees right through it but thankfully dd has shared enough snory camping trips to know how bad the actual snoring gets!!
