They seem to prefer throwing stuff out at my co-op rather than reducing by more than half price, but these were still a good bargain and are now residing in our freezer. I lurve garlic bread!
LT Co-op are supposed to have a "reduce to sell" policy so if you're in there very late on and see stuff you'd like to buy reduced, it's probably worth being cheeky and asking if they will reduce more "on the basis that you won't want to be throwing it out now will you" - I wondered whether it was just the island/remote stores that had that policy but according to BiL it's across the board. If they twig that you know this, they might well knock the items down further just in case you dropo them in it IYKWIM
Pips I was rivalling you for bargains on Sunday - got a cabbage for 11p I think it was, and a pack of tomatoes for 15p!I shall continue to shop at MrT's at an hour before closing on a sunday I think! There is a lot of opposition to Tesco up in Stornoway too I know - although a lot of that was centred around the suspicion that they would eventually change their opening hours to being open on Sundays - so far they haven't but I honestly don't think the store would survivie in one piece if they tried it anyway!

Hi all
Karmacat, the £5 off voucher doesn't seem to have any strings attached. no minimum spend and there's also a bit that mentions a free packet of seeds with your order. :T
I think you have to order before 21/1/11 so get you orders in quickly.
Our local Morrisons has had one make of whole meal bread and one of white for 50p for the last couple of months.Which make seems to vary but they are full size loaves and not reduced because they are close to the sell by date. It just seems to be one of their regular things. It's a big saving against ASDA or ALDI where I had been buying it.
I've now had my Parkers catalogue, further temptation put in my way:eek: although even just sitting there going through the catalogue and thinking about spring is quite cheery0 -
i've already done my seed shopping via the allotment society but i wouldn't mind the T&M offer. I do need to buy seed potatoes though.
Cooked my artichokes yesterday, well roasted them and not sure if i did them for too long because they were very mushy inside (read into this phobia issue) so unless i get told i've cooked them completely wrong i dont' think i will be needing to plant them, they seemed quite tasteless as well. Thank you Trog for sending them to me, i'll send you something for the postage asap.0 -
It's OK LT, you can have them on me, as it were! I'm not at all keen on them either, as I said, but some friends love them, so it was worth a try.
Today I finally got around to planting some bulbs I had that were starting to sprout - should have gone in a couple of months ago but it was too cold (and I also got a pack for Xmas). So narcissi, alliums and tulips now have a somewhat better chance than they did in the packet - and I feel like I achieved something and that spring is on its way!!0 -
thanks Trog i'll shall sort something out of you somehow
i think i was brave to try artichokes, sometimes if i get the phobia thing going on i won't try stuff incase it's like mash.
tis window's day tomorrow yay! i may leave OH at home supervising at some stage to go swimming and visit my folks, or do you think that's cheating as i've booked the day off to be here whilst the workmen are her?0 -
troglodyte, that planting sounds lovely! I saw catkins starting to grow on some big hazel trees locally, it felt very springlike, even if very cold2023: the year I get to buy a car0
