Snow traffic
Anyone like to explain just what the @!$4 caused all the chaos on Friday night on the roads?
I was in South Wales and the M4 had 26 miles of all 3 lanes bumper to bumper 4 mph
What the hell is it about snow that causes this ridiculous fiasco?
The snow was not on the ground the motorway was wet that is all, just a wet road and a few flurry things coming at your widscreen as you drive along.
And the traffic reports on real radio and reddragon were next to useless, they advertise that the trafic report is "coming up soon" every few minutes but it takes sometimes 30 minutes or more till they actually give out the information, and when they finally do it is only on for 1 or 2 minutes the presenter speaks really fast so you miss most of it, and half of it is not accurate anyway. They were saying last night that traffic west bound was chokka block junction 26 - 34 but I was sitting East bound at J34 3 lanes chokka block down to atleast J32 (maybe beyond) but we never got a mention. I came off at J33 (I gave up trying to go home) and went to Culverhouse Cross noticed that there was very little traffic in both directions on the Cardiff link road and the traffic reports were saying that the link road North bound to J33 was chocka block - which it wasn't.
I think there should be a dedicated traffic channel (this should be more do-able with the dawn of digital) A channel that gives out a comprehensive local area traffic report which takes its time to get it right.

People too afraid to use their usual back road routes = more traffic on motorways and trunk roads. Then it only takes a few idiotic lane changes or manoeuvres without proper checks and the whole road system grinds to a halt.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -

Yep...stupid !!!!!! who are unfit to be on the road. Sadly this type of weather demonstrates that 75% of people driving on the road aren't fit to hold a licence.
One major road near me was blocked all yesterday because there was 2 inches of snow. 2 INCHES !!!!!!.
Are people in this country becoming such soft pathetic pansies that a mere 2 inch of snow brings the job to a hault?0 -
Been watching the news one guy had crashed his 4x4 in the snow, He was doing 50mph when he lost it.
IDIOTS!!!!
The 4 wheel drive sticker is not a death exemption certificate.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I think people are scared of any adverse weather, as a whole. Same happens when it rains, too. If you're too scared to drive in adverse weather conditions you might as well [STRIKE]burn your driving licence[/STRIKE] stay off the road where possible.0

They had a Highways agency one, but it was scrapped as too expensive and pointless as people don't have digital in the car as much.0 -

The highways agency have a dedicated digital traffic radio service, but i dont know how reliable the info is.0 -

They seem to think that having a plethora of electronics means they will stop from 70mph while only 6' off the backside of the car in front rather than treating the electronics for what they are - a SECONDARY safety device.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0
