Ever had your Halifax online access suspended? What now?

  • I had a similar eperience with halifax while taking advantage of their international funds transfer service. Everything was fine and above board until I clicked proceed and without warning got the account suspended message.

I'm frustrated by the security questions they ask to ascertain my identity, for example, "what's your current balance?" is not a great security question when i can't log on to check. Also there is a definite "computer says no" culture going on there behind the scenes, with the supervisers and managers unable to resolve my lockout over the phone "because of the data protection act" - ehhhh?. I can understand the need for security to prevent fraud, but does common sense really have to take a hit?
  • Same thing happened to me, I'm in the process of switching to First Direct. Also Halifax faster payments is a joke.
  • same happened to me also
and i used a different computer (IN A HALIFAX BRANCH LOL!)
  • I spend more time locked out of my account than I do with free access! It's mostly my own fault though. One time they wanted to ring me to verify and (since I have a bit of a phone phobia) I didn't let them. The result? Having to wait for a letter in the post to confirm the next steps. Silly really, it was only a machine on the other end of the line. It wasn't going to yell at me and I had no access to my bank account for a couple of days.
    Thank you competition posters!
