ANYTHING mixed with water will lower it's freezing point, different substances lower it different amounts. For example salt lowers the freezing temp of water to around -7c (which is how road salt works).

The important thing is to pick something which can clean effectively once it hit's your windscreen.

Are you sure we're not confusing the 'Advanced Double Concentrate' with plain 'Double Concentrate'?

Haven't a clue, I'm just annoyed at yself for not buying some at Halfords the other day and I rn out on the way home. Have ordered 3 bottles of the Auto Glym stuff from EBay and will try that.

After the recent cold snap I was using carplan @ 50:50 last night was -6 to -9 and a bottle of pure water inside the car froze solid. I am finding that the screenwash water bottle is not freezing but the tubes to the squirters are freezing. The water bottle has ice crystals floating around in it, which will be the water freezing out of the concentrate. I just added another 500ml neat stuff, making the bottle something like 65% - 70% screenwash. But I couldn't squirt it through because the tubes are already frozen.

Same problem I've had with the carplan stuff. Its the hoses and the nozzles that were freezing not the bottle.. I'm pretty much not far off 100% wash now and at -12 last night all was well.

I have freinds in Russia and one was telling me she uses Surgical spirits in her car for the washers...

I bought Asda concentrate and would not recommend. I have been adding neet fluid with no water and used 2 litres in a 1 1/2 litre tank, so it must be close to 100% but it froze in the lines.

Don't buy the Tesco ready mix stuff, its awful and once the temperature gets below zero it freezes, on the bottle its says down to -2c but that is rubbish
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

I use the Halfords double concentrate and find it to be very very good.

If you want a particular smell it only comes in 1 litre bottles which don't offer great value for money, however the "original" comes in 2.5 litre bottles which are much better. Also Halfords have a buy 2 get 1 free deal.

It only froze once last year when it was -15oC but once it "warmed" up to -14oC it worked again :rotfl:

I got my stuff through the squirters today and its probably about 64% carplan. We'll see if the squirters freeze again tonight.

I bought Morrisons pre mix (by accident).
It's excellent, -15c last night, brief problem with the jets being frozen, but after a couple of minutes driving and a few trial squirts it was working fine.
