Autoglym All Season Quick Clear and I must say it's the best I've ever used in 40+ winters. Depending on the degree of dilution it's good down to -45 degc. I'm using 4:1 at the moment. Not the cheapest though.

ive just bought some of this stuff to try when my comma stuff runs out. £2.50 to make 8 litres. if it doesnt freeze then its worth it.

I have been looking for screenwash and was just doing some research into the Halfords Double Concentrate and the current blend might not be the same stuff that Auto Express tested last year:-

    Pros: smells pleasant enough
Cons: poor value for money compared to previous product, very poor instructions on bottle for mixing up

"I used to buy this product when it looked like the bottle pictured. Originally, a 2.5 litre bottle would make up to 100 litres.
The new style bottle claims to be able to make up to 40 litres but doesn't specify what the dilution ratio is to make this; the weakeast on the bottle is using 50% concentrate to 50% water.
The price hasn't gone down so effectively it's now 250% more expensive than it used to be."

Mine hasn't frozen yet.:) I would recommend 4:1 at the moment though. I can only get 500ml bottles, from what I've seen they used to supply 1 litre bottles, seems strange that. Or I've not looked hard enough?:p

Euro Car Parts advertise it as Carplan but it's actually Autocare which is not as concentrated as Carplan.

It isnt AutoCare, its definitely CarPlan that they sell. Secondly, both are made in the same factory by Tetrosyl, and have the same formula.

However, the best screenwash by far is the Frostex screenwash. Its made by a german company that is part of the Wurth group, so the quality absolutely speaks for itself. i only use this stuff. Its expensive, but well worth it.

They are both made by Tetrosyl but the Autocare is a more of an 'own brand' and is not as concentrated as the Carplan.

I spoke with Euro Car Parts whose response was that they ran out of the Carplan and so sent the inferior product instead. Quite why they did this without consulting the affected customers first I'm not sure. The Autocare product has to be used neat in the extreme weather we're experiencing at the moment.

Thanks for the heads up. I too used to buy the old one, which was very good. Question is, what do I buy this year?

Interestingly, the current bottle looks like this one, which AutoExpress reviews in 2007:
    http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/products/product_honours_2007/208746/screenwash.html

Where as they still seems to list the 2009 winner in smaller bottles:
    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_220761_langId_-1_categoryId_229902

Are you sure we're not confusing the 'Advanced Double Concentrate' with plain 'Double Concentrate'?

Autoglym for -40C protection (and if it's good enough for the Royal limos then it must be OK) or Comma which goes down to -65C undiluted, or -24C at 50% dilution.
