Are people still reading these figures as some kind of 'gospel' ? The figures are only really relevant in a proper functioning market.
The reality is, forget a big crash without forced sellers and forget 'real' gains country wide without 70,000 approvals a month and banks that want to lend money.
These figures are almost completely meaningless when taken in the context of what is happening.Have owned outright since Sept 2009, however I'm of the firm belief that high prices are a cancer on society, they have sucked money out of the economy, handing it to banks who've squandered it.0 -

What's the point anyhow, hardly news worthy, is it?0 -

Hmm, Ireland is screwed, Portugal looks like it might be next, house prices were down by 0.8% 2 months ago and North and South Korea might be about to have a nuclear war.
I feel a poll coming on.

Land Registry data is the only worthwhile data so if there was a Gospel this is it.
The headline figure doesn't matter much (other than confidence) but the localised, house type data is vital.
Its also what buyers research & mortgage valuers value from.
So at a level, yes, it is Gospel. Not Again0 -
