Are people still reading these figures as some kind of 'gospel' ? The figures are only really relevant in a proper functioning market.

The reality is, forget a big crash without forced sellers and forget 'real' gains country wide without 70,000 approvals a month and banks that want to lend money.

These figures are almost completely meaningless when taken in the context of what is happening.
Have owned outright since Sept 2009, however I'm of the firm belief that high prices are a cancer on society, they have sucked money out of the economy, handing it to banks who've squandered it.

I see the BBC have managed to not report this.

What's the point anyhow, hardly news worthy, is it?

I see the BBC have managed to not report this. Bet there would have been a nice headline had it been positive

Hmm, Ireland is screwed, Portugal looks like it might be next, house prices were down by 0.8% 2 months ago and North and South Korea might be about to have a nuclear war.

I feel a poll coming on.

Round my way it is -1% and the annual change is -0.2%.

At this rate it might not take as long to to get my deposit as I thought it would.

Land Registry data is the only worthwhile data so if there was a Gospel this is it.

The headline figure doesn't matter much (other than confidence) but the localised, house type data is vital.

Its also what buyers research & mortgage valuers value from.

So at a level, yes, it is Gospel.

Only London and the East of England registered property price rises compared with September

    That's the only area I care about.

Your house has gone up and my potential house has gone down, everybody wins!

Out of interest what do you have to gain from rises again?, I am set to get an affordable family home so I can start a family.
