Proof the Halifax Oct figures were a Turkey. I presume their (halifax) transactions figures are low which are causing the wild fluctuations.
Nationwide was -0.7%, so nationwide seem to ba a bit more on the money.

But saying that the halifax could be because of transaction base, the NE is getting some fairly large falls based on the release.0

Its because there has been a drop across the board on lower value housing sales causing an upward average house price which neither estate agents take into account when reaching their figures.
The difference between Nationwide & Halifax house price average is solely due to the geographical areas where they collect their data.
IE one has more higher value houses in their areas than the other.
So you can safely say both Halifax & Nationwide produce flawed reports & have always done so.Not Again0 -
I see the BBC have managed to not report this. Bet there would have been a nice headline had it been positive0

My borough is up 0.3%, 11.9% annual. Not exactly a crash.
Hounslow is up 0.5%, 9% for the year. I bet that gets ignored by someone...0
