  • I just bought a couple of wicker baskets with handles for £2 each from wilkos. About the right size for what i want (id guess about 12x8", and pretty deep), and they can be reused for storage. If anyone's interested they were with the bathroom stuff, showers and wire caddys and whatnot.

They also had smaller baskets intended for bread etc, but would look great for smaller gift sets of 6 items or so, £1-1.50 each and lined.

My mum's will be made up in a big, decorated box, as it has to be posted (yes, the wonders of retail work, i don't get to see my family at christmas).

The poundshop ones mentioned above are good too, i was pondering one but a bit too big for my needs!

cheap as chips it was .... looks real quality too:j .... bonus is ... friend has squished 2 bed apartment and we were discussing how to manage fitting in baby things as BIL lives with them too ...... suggested getting a basket to keep the handy things in for the day ... nappies, wipes, change of clothes etc ... she loved the idea :D .... nothing like a bit of gentle persuasion is there hey ;) so now, what I got for her is something that she now really needs :rotfl: :rotfl:

I did a hamper last year for Merlin's dad and his wife but didn't use the usual basket.

Instead I got one of those giant present bags, like the small ones in card shops but was huge, from a local pound shop and filled it with shreaded tissue and hid the gifts among it so it was like a giant lucky dip, lol.

They are rather strong and will hold quite a fair bit and have some nice christmas pics on them.
I live in my own little world, but it's ok as everyone knows me here :)

Not 100% sure, but I'd imagine Ally got them from Vertbaudet - I've seen them there, and I know if you use the right codes you can often get small order (£10-ish) for free.

Don't think the codes can be given on MSE, but they turn up on other sites quite regularly.

    :)
