For one of my Xmas 'hampers' I am doing a very similar thing. I picked up lovely glass swan ornament/bowl for £4 in a chairty shop. I'm going to knit a lovely white fluffy scarf and fold that into the bowl, along with a few chocs nestled on top. It's for my surrogate Nan (an elderly ex-neighbour whom I 'adopted' as my Nan).

I know she'll appreciate it and she can use the bowl after Christmas for pot pourri, etc. I just know she wouldn't appreciate a basket full of smellies and the likes so not worth doing a full hamper.

    Hi,

Try using part of the present as the container.. Eg:

For a Baker's hamper - Use the mixing bowl as the "hamper" and place the other bits inside using shredded tissue paper to pad it.

For a Pamper hamper - Depending on size, use a towel as the "hamper" and place the other bits inside then fold up the towl and tie with raffetia or similar

For a Crafters hamper - Buy a craft storage container & fill the compartments with crafty items...

It might not work for everything as it depends on the size of the individual bits, but with a bit of lateral thinking - most styles of hamper can be done like this.. :D

  • I was looking at the Woolworths website this morning under 'storage' and they have some nice lined baskets and other boxes at reasonable prices. You can order for store pick up and then there is no delivery charge
