You are right - its just when you spend so much energy planning it is a bit upsetting when things go wrong. My OH is lovely and I can't stop grinning.

To answer your Q I can't remember when I sent it off, I think about 6 months in advance then just forgot about it, but it only arrived closer to the date, so I wouldn't worry.

Thanks, I did put the date of the wedding on it (5 weeks yesterday eeek!) so maybe it will come nearer the time, i hope so as it would be really nice to give to OH

Just thought I would let everyone know that thanks to this lovely thread I wrote to both Chelsea (for the bride) and Arsenal (groom). I did this about 7 weeks ago and only got the replies yesderday and today. The chelsea one is a standard folded letter on headed paper with a personalised message signed by A Villas-Boas (think its the manager) The Arsenal one is lovely came in a DO not bend envelope on beautiful headed paper with a really lovely long message signed by Arsene Wenger.
So if you know anyone who would be touched to receive such a message get writing!! But allow loads of time!!!

Hmmm, I emailed Hearts and some WWE wrestlers months ago. Its 2 weeks to the wedding and not one of them has replied.

Codemonkey did you put the wedding date on your letter? I did when I wrote 7 weeks ago but only got them this week and the wedding is this sun the 28th Aug so perhaps nearer the date?

Hey guys.. I saw this thread a few months ago which started me on a great letter-sending spree! I had the idea that as a novelty, I wanted some messages of good luck/autographs and things to read out with the speeches and 'sorry-i-cant-be-there's.. thought it'd be fun for the best man to read out apologies from stars who couldn't make it! so far I've sent around 30 letters! (might have gotten a little too into the game!) Wedding is not until December so plenty of time.

Have had replies as follows:
The Queen - One of her ladies in waiting replied to advise she could not personally respond but would be delighted to offer her best wishes on the big day
Radiohead - Letter of congratulations on our wedding with autographs
Cake Boss [TV show about an Italian-American baker in the USA!] - responded with an autographed picture
Barcelona FC - reply from supporters club saying they recieve too many requests and as standard cannot write back. Booo, all they needed to say was "Congrats & Best wishes".. I would have accepted it from the supporters club!

Just a note incase anyone would like to know:
If you're sending a letter abroad and want to pop in an SAE, put in an addressed envelope to yourself and get some International Reply Coupons from the postie. They're £1.75 and allow the sender to purchase postage in their country. I'm hoping doing so helps people reply to me!
