  • Not my idea I am sending her the hal.dll file because she does not have the Windows CD. And she would have to pay maybe £50 for help from a tech people that will do it for her. But I was only informing you that it is legal if you own the copyright. As in you create music or a small vb program for educational and want people to play with it that thats fine. However if it is keygens, software, music, video then it is illegal. So DONT use it to download windows cd or anything like that.

But as you state Browntoa the rules of the site state that

    *sigh*

If you have a genuine serial number, as I mentioned previously, and used a downloaded copy of windows, how is that illegal?

Pirated media is illegal, regardless of the serial used.

Yes it passes validation with Microsoft but the media itself is technically illegal and that's the point being made.

final word on the filesharing debate...

I've offered a Full genuine copy of Xp on Disk by Pm....to avoid download problems

i've just spent 2 days rebuilding a machine for a woman who's son had downloaded something on a lime flavoured program...it was not the file he thought it was and preceded to "trash" the windows directory totally and went off to wreak havoc elsewhere before he turned it off..

I know she should have backed the them up but she almost lost ALL her baby photo's of her youngest from the moment she was born...which incidently I have managed to salvage and her eldest daughters A level work, which i have also managed to retrieve......all for the sake of a "freebie"

make up your own mind people......
