  • not all torrents are illegal

If you have a large file that you want to share. As in you own the copyright to it or you have not put a copyright on it that it is fine. Heard that on Security Now! or was it TWIT, cant remember what show or ep but they said it was legal to do it to share files that belong to you because they where thinking about doing it before AOL Radio gives them Bandwidths.
  • Hi,right i tried f10 got as far as a system restore at 22% then it stops as says it cant restore symantec/norton personal firewall,so i hit the ok button and nothing happens. I think the norton was a freebie for a few months.
    Thanks

    back to topic...

ANY windows XP home disk will do a repair install if you can borrow one

    see how here

    http://www.help2go.com/Tutorials/Windows/How_To_Repair_XP_and_Avoid_a_Full_Reinstall.html

Repair installation: Running a repair install of Windows XP can be a handy way of fixing the installation of XP without having to start totally over and deleting important data from your PC. To do this type of install, simply follow these instructions.
    1. Boot from your XP installation CD.
    2. At the welcome screen, choose enter.
    3. Once at the license agreement, press F8.
    4. At the next screen, choose to repair the selected Windows XP installation by pressing R.
    5. The files will begin to install and then your PC will reboot. During the reboot you will be presented with option of booting from the CD again by pressing any key. Don't press anything. Allow it to finish the install without booting from the CD again
if that does not work then

    I'm doing one for a friend as i type !! :)

you should not lose any data

  • Anyway if you create something you can torrent it to save some bandwidth and server costs. However if its copyrighted to someone else such as a Microsoft program then it is illegal to do.

yay for the most clueless statement of the thread!

    1) torrents are not illegal, downloading and using cracked software is illegal.. if you'd bothered to take the time to read my op you'd see that i state you can use the software as long as you have a genuine serial number.

    2) probably infected - lol, if youre worried abuot any download being infected, how about you scan it before use with an anti-virus prog?! Sorted.
